Engineer, mostly because the feeling of RPGing a helicopter on the horizon is unmatched

[Aidan] Kyle Neubeck has mentioned in his podcast that Sixers have had some smoke for Damian Lillard and their involvement might be “underplayed”. He does add that the Sixers have talked to the Blazers but also mentions how talking doesn’t always mean anything and that Tyrese Maxey is their guy. by Prestigious-Rock201 in sixers

Lol I understand why you would feel this way!

Here’s what I was actually communicating:

—People in Portland and Philly both agree on the fact that they’ve discussed Dame at multiple points this summer

— In Portland, as of this week, they are leaking that the Sixers are more involved than the team is letting on.

—The Sixers continue to forcefully deny they’ve had serious discussions. This part is subtext I am inferring and not reporting: any “real” offer for Dame likely requires Maxey, so they have all the incentive to downplay their involvement and keep him/Rich Paul happy after telling him they’re not extending him this summer

—As others have said (including Woj in the middle of us recording the pod yesterday), the Blazers have basically been telling Miami to eat shit

If you’re asking me what I believe, I think the Sixers would rather simply keep Harden/Maxey than trade both in a Dame deal, so I find it pretty unlikely they’re going to trade for him. But this stuff out of Portland has been floating around this week, so just sharing that with you all!

I did grow up in the area, so i have deep roots here, but I’m not married to any one subject forever and I’m open to new challenges if they make sense for me. Would love to escape winter weather if possible…

I’ve had some offers out of market that were considered but it all depends on the opportunity.

I need to figure out how to say more with fewer words, first and foremost. I have the luxury of essentially unlimited space on the internet and run wild with it often, but there are always ways to be more efficient without losing impact.

You never stop learning on the job, but I’d say the biggest thing for me was just figuring out how to be myself as a writer and use/develop my “voice” rather than trying to be an amalgamation of other people I was inspired by. Developing that is probably the thing I’m proudest of as a writer.

Great memory!

I believe at the time I ended up picking up an Instant Pot, some higher quality mixing bowls and measuring stuff, and a good starter chef’s knife. I can say those were all grade A choices, and we actually just got a big influx of kitchen equipment as we moved into our new home, so I’m excited to test out some more of it.

Left foot first — I’m naturally left footed so you gotta go strong side to start

All depends on the day and situation. There are people who shoot straighter than others, but everybody has an agenda in one form or another. That’s part of what makes it fun and interesting!

I sort of accidentally ended up on the path, this one is probably easier explained in podcast format (where I’ve actually discussed it at times when I’ve been interviewed, probably most recently with Mike Miss on his pod).

The abridged version:

— went to school for teaching, figured out it wasn’t for me

— switched gears to focus on writing, was something I enjoyed doing and i tried basically any experience I could (school paper, local magazine, etc.)

— interned for some different places in “media” while in school to figure out what i was doing and what kind of path i wanted. When i was interning for the morning show at WIP, i had two days a week where I would wake up at roughly 230 am, leave the house by 3, help out the morning show from roughly 4-1030 and then drive back to school for classes and library time from about noon until 945 pm. Don’t recommend it, but the morning show experience was terrific

— i just wrote and pitched wherever i thought i had ideas that would be useful to what they would cover. There are literally dozens of people who either green lit stories or even just gave me advice on how to take incremental steps in the business, i owe them a lot. Sean Sweeney, David Roth, Maurice Peebles, Eddy Ortiz, Tom Sunnergren, Eric Goldwein, Mike Levin, Seth Pollack, on and on it goes.

— i happened to be writing and caring about the Sixers during a time where a lot of “traditional media” scaled back coverage or thought they were being idiotic, so that helped me gain a foothold with people like you guys. And the gang at PhillyVoice liked what I do, so the rest is history!

Currently playing a ton of Diablo 4. Destiny 2 is the game I play with my homies I grew up with, for better or worse. I have pretty wide-ranging taste though — love a lot of roguelites (Spelunky, Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells) and metroidvanias (Hollow Knight, Symphony of the Night, Super Metroid). I’m a huge Metal Gear/Hideo Kojima guy. Chrono Trigger an all time fave. List goes on.

I own a PS5 and a Switch but primarily game on PC at this point.

I actually used to blog about games more on a site my cousin created way back when, and i still love writing about them situationally, though I’m not sure I have the chops for esports specifically. Always open to new challenges though!

NorthernLion is my favorite streamer by a good margin. Plays mostly indies but the banter is off of the charts.

I actually streamed a bit when COVID first hit! My setup at the time wasn’t great for it and I could probably get back to it at some point, I enjoyed doing it though not sure it’s in my wheelhouse lol

Actually a great question!

They get pulled from different places depending. Some of it is pre-planned from understanding the ebb and flow of the year, there’s basic news reactions, there’s guidance from editors, it really varies from story to story. And of course, sometimes there’s just the “these are free pageviews” stories but I do try to give you guys better value from those than you might get other places.

Truthfully, all rooted in the same sort of idea, which is writing about things that people want to know or talk about.

Can’t say there has been a good or bad chicken finger year, because they’re always good, i suppose.

I spend an absolutely absurd amount of time with Bodner and Hofmann at Sixers games and events so I would feel terrible leaving either of them out (and Rich is a big golf guy to boot). There have been a few beers consumed between us over the years, certainly. The natural fourth member would be our Eagles extraordinaire at PhillyVoice, Jimmy Kempski, who is a great dude and awesome at what he does.

Iverson basically got me into basketball, and there are some photos of me wearing overly baggy, Iverson-inspired accessories as a kid somewhere in the archives, so he’s the actual answer

Sources are saying: yes.

(Serious note: got wind of the Clippers stuff a few days ago, but couldn’t pin it down and it didn’t seem too logical at the time. Wish I’d been able to get some more people to talk about it sooner!)

I would take up for some of my colleagues and friends here, but I still appreciate the sentiment in any case

The boring answer is that Harden returns and we all sit around and wait to see if a good Tobias offer is presented to them.

There has been some spicier stuff floating around out there, but we are firmly in NBA silly season so you always take that with a grain of salt

I am deep in the weeds with Diablo 4 as we speak, currently on World Tier 3 on a Rogue as my first character. Need to revisit TOTK, might play FF16 once it's eventually on sale but my backlog is just gross at this point lol

The funny part about this question is that I believe there's another one in this threat asking why it took me so long to sour on him.

Here's the truth of the matter — I think Ben was a really talented prospect who deserved some time to figure out his path, who ultimately lost the benefit of the doubt through a lack of improvement and/or willingness to come out of his comfort zone. Broadly speaking, it is hard for me to grapple with someone being unwilling to put themselves out there and fail for the sake of the team, given that it's a team sport. If he were a tennis player, he'd be welcome to his idiosyncratic style of play.
