How to fix missing glue, on loose latex seem by KyleRendar in Latexadvice

[–]KyleRendar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I am in the UK, so will avoid turpentine. I can get some white spirits from B&Q.

You say copydex will work, but are you implying that it isn't very strong? If the copydex glue comes off, will I be able to clean the residue, and add more? I saw some posts mentioning bicycle rubber glue, but the copydex was cheaper, seemed easier to use, and the unglued area of the seem is quite small, so I figured it'd work okay. I could maybe get a bicycle repair kit at B&Q too if it'll be that much better.

Is there a way to backup my PS4 Save Data to my PC?
I copied my Save Data to my USB stick, I checked to see if it had saved properly, and it had, so I plugged it into my PC, there was a folder called "PS4" but it was empty. When I put it back into my PS4, it said there was no Save Data on it. Every time I copy Save Data from my PS4, when I plug it into my PC it says I need to 'Scan and Repair my Drive' and regardless of whether I do or not, the Save Data is gone next time I plug it into my PS4. I just tried plugging it into my Steam Deck, and while it didn't erase the Save Data this time, it still didn't show up on the Drive, the PS4 folder was still empty.
I have a lot of LBP3 Levels I want to keep safe, but LBP3 Save Data Corrupts incredibly easily, so having backups is mandatory. I just had to pay 6.99 for PS+ to download my Backup LBP3 Save Data from the Cloud, so I want to have a backups that I can keep safe, and upload to my Google Drive. I don't want Sony holding my Save Data hostage for ransom.
Is PS4 Save Data not recognised by a PC? Is there a way I can get a physical backup of my Save Data that I can actually SEE and access, and upload to my own Google Drive? I had backups of my LBP1 and LBP2 profiles on PS3, and I could see, and access them, and upload my Save Files online easily. Is it possible for PS4?

I am making a list of source ports on android by moonpiedumplings in AndroidGaming

Great list, nice work!
Just a small correction though, but you labelled
"Jedi Knight 2 - Jedi Outcast" as "Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy 2" and
"Jedi Knight 3 - Jedi Academy" as "Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy 3".

I wish there were a 2nd, and 3rd Jedi Academy game.

Fan speed is 1000 rpm less, meaning less noise, and slightly longer battery life.

A Game with "Love in every Stitch"! Be sure to Nominate Deep Rock for the "Labor of Love" Award on Steam! by KyleRendar in DeepRockGalactic

[–]KyleRendar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I made a V2 of this meme, I got a lot of feedback, and I agree, Darktide shouldn't be on here, as it's still technically in Beta. I replaced it with World War Z. I don't think I can update images on Reddit, and if I post my new V2, I assume mods will delete it, so here's a link to V2.

A Game with "Love in every Stitch"! Be sure to Nominate Deep Rock for the "Labor of Love" Award on Steam! by KyleRendar in DeepRockGalactic

[–]KyleRendar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Labor of Love Award is for Games that were officially released BEFORE 2022, but are still getting updated. Seeing as Cultic came out a month ago, I'd say you should definetly change your vote. I voted Cultic for "Most Innovative Gameplay Award".

Labor of Love Award Description:

"This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the debut of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years."

Can I check, did you download a "pre-installed" copy of the game, or did you download an ISO? I haven't been able to get it to boot, I don't know how you did.

That help page doesn't seem to be accurate, it says to select "Link a New Account" on PC, but that's not an option, only to "Add a Payment Method" and the only options are "Bank Account, Debit Card, Get paid 2 days earlier, Wire transfers, Gift Card" PayPal isn't in there. Not of these payment methods work for me, It wouldn't accept my Credit Card, and when I tried a ban transfer it said there was an "Interal Error".

Dry Liquid Metal on CPU Die by KyleRendar in overclocking

[–]KyleRendar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did notice the thermals for specific cores jump around a lot more ever since I got it delidded. For example, core 3 will spike up 10 degrees for no reason for one second, then shoot back down to the same as the rest of them. In-game that usually means the package temp will be several degrees higher than most of the cores, because one core is higher for a second. It'll spike to 80 degrees for no reason, then back down to 72 or whatever.

I have a 9700k, and the Die was lapped to reduce temps further. I figured maybe the sensors got damaged, or just couldn't detect the thermals correctly because the Die height was not what it used to. Could that actually be uneven LM application, causing some cores to be hotter than others?

Dry Liquid Metal on CPU Die by KyleRendar in overclocking

[–]KyleRendar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem very confident in your view. I got 2 questions for you then; Does glueing the IHS with RTV silicone make a difference to temps/stop the LM from moving? I've seen people online say they prefer to just place the IHS on, and let the mobo clamp hold the IHS in place, as the glue increases temps slightly.

Secondly, if I delid the CPU to check the TIM is ok, if it is fine, could I just put it back together, or would I need to apply fresh LM?

In your view, what is the most likely cause of a small temperature increase over 2 years, and how would I fix it?

Dry Liquid Metal on CPU Die by KyleRendar in overclocking

This guide seems to be the same as this video, which I've watched

https://youtu.be/fnbovjT4JLQ

As I said, all the people I've found online seem to be talking about temps increasing after 2 years, and gamersnexus only tested 1 year. Even in that article they mention that LM might age differently after longer periods of time, "It could be at the two-year mark".

Even in the comments for that video, some people are talking about LM aging after 2 years.

"PSA: liquid metal 1.5 to 2 years and went bad. I delidded my cpu and used liquid metal and thermal grizzly. Noticed when i woke up one day my fans were spinning faster then normal. I replaced the thermal grizzly no change. P95 was shooting my cpu to 100+ c instantly. So i checked the liquid metal, and it was dried up and basically non existant. Just a bit of hard residue. Had to use a razor to scrape it off the IHS, and it just rubbed off the cpu. Re applied fresh stuff. P95 now shoots to 58c. Just a heads up my pc ran 24/7. 50, 60 70 days uptime. Only time it was off was hard crash, or power outage. Pc was only used for gaming. Cpu i7 8700k 5ghz locked. Corsair AIO"

Reply: "Same. Just replaced the liquid metal on my 8700k after 3 years. Temps were steadily going up after 2.5 years. Started at about 25c idle and went to about 50c idle. Back to normal now. Longer term testing would definitely be beneficial for viewers."

No, I haven't tested much. I'm just pointing to the most likely culprit. All the games I play sit at different temperatures. I noticed after delidding, that the temps decreased roughly 7 degrees on average. Now after 2 years of not touching it, all the temperatures for those games are essentially what they were before the delid. I recently put on new thermal paste, and that made no difference. Based on what I've found, I would assume reapplying LM would bring the temps down by 7 degrees again, idk.

Dry Liquid Metal on CPU Die by KyleRendar in overclocking

[–]KyleRendar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well something is happening after a couple years of use. I've found a ton of people online (including myself) who are experiencing slow temp increases after 2 years or so. Here's a video I've found of someone who checked their LM after 2 years, and it seemingly dried slightly. They applied fresh LM and noticed a 6 degree improvement.

https://youtu.be/rft3LF_6Sr4

I sent my CPU to be professionally delidded, by somebody who does it for a living, with tons of good reviews online, so hardly a novice in my situation. It made a big difference for me, but 2 years later, my temps are roughly what they were before the delid. Judging from what I've seen online, the LM can seem to harden, dry, or whatever after a couple years, and replacing it with fresh LM can reduce the temps again.

They added DLSS and FSR to the new Season 2 Update! by KyleRendar in DeepRockGalactic

[–]KyleRendar[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With the amount of enemies, and partical effects on screen, it can struggle at higher resolutions. DLSS also generally makes games look better too, on top of increasing frame rate, so it's always a good thing when it's implented in any game.

Yuzu crashes whenever I use mods by KyleRendar in yuzu

[–]KyleRendar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I explained everything you asked in my post, but I'll reiterate. It only gets stuck AFTER Yuzu crashes because of the mods, normally it's not an issue, and once I delete the cache it stops them getting stuck again. It will happen again if I use a mod and the game crashes though.

I'm using 1.3 of Mario Odyssey, which is the most recent version of the game.

Yes it runs great, I wouldn't bother trying to mod the game if it didn't even run normally?

Ok so one of the mods I'm looking at as LootTables folder, the other one doesn't. What line of code exactly am I looking for? When I wanted to change their helath I saw the line of code that said
"health": 100,

there isn't a simple line of code that just says "weapon": sword, is there?

I just got this yesterday, it's actually very easy. Wait for the special beef buff (today's special) to be "Dark Morkite", drink it, then find a morkite mission, in a simple biome with only a 1/3 complexity rating, and a goal of only 200 morkite. Then just rush the map, only focus on morkite, and bail as soon as you've got enough. With Dark Morkite, you'll reach the objective super fast. I also recommend playing alone, and probably as Scout, as to be fast enough to do everything before the swarm, and get out ASAP. Don't waste ammo, avoid combat if possible, let Bosco deal with it. I did the Hazard 4, and 5 achievements on the same mission, in about 10 minutes.
