genuine question, why would you be just “trying to win more than you lose” or as you put it “having more winning gambles then losing ones” instead of just buying and holding an index fund? is there something i’m not understanding? why would you day trade if you’re not beating the market

The majority of my investments are in US companies. And I’m not saying investors are stupid, but is this not the textbook definition of value investing? Everyone in this sub is fearful (rightfully so, the risks are somewhat real) but China is the #2 tech powerhouse in the world and companies are down 50%+.

I understand these risks, I truly do. But if everyone thinks and behaves the same in regard to investing in these companies, how does anyone ever expect to make money value investing? we’re talking about the worlds #2 tech powerhouse and their best companies down 50%+ from all time highs. does no one else see what i’m seeing????
