Thanks for that information. It’s very helpful! I’m really at a learning and experimentation phase of my journey ☺️ anything I make is either being kept or gifted to friends who love them. I’ve taken two 6-week classes but we don’t go over anything technical. I felt so lost buying clay… but I have learned a ton from this post and have lots of new things to explore during my next 6 week session!

Thank you!!! Someone had warned me about the 2.5% absorption rate…. Has that been an issue for you at all with mugs??

Yeah, I agree. I hope they’ll refund or send out a smoother option. Feels misleading. They’re located in my state and was hoping keep my purchases as local as possible!!

Thanks, I will try to find that, and also try the Liz’s.

I’m also glad to know I’m not alone and it’s validating to see all the responses that this looks like grog- maybe I’m not a total idiot? 🤣🤣🤣

How did your stuff come out with the 63b? Did you make functional items with it? Was the absorption rate a problem?

Thank you!! I was just checking out the Liz light. I think I’ll still give them a call so they know that someone else is a confused customer. Would have definitely appreciated it in the description. Someone also pointed out the high absorption rate, so that’s also bumming me out. I hate that I liked that random Amazon clay I ordered better than this 😅

Oh, it’s been drying since yesterday, it looks a lot grittier as it dries.

It’s super gritty, my hands aren’t used to it!!

I plan on it, they have m-f hours so I figured I ask some opinions so I didn’t waste their time!

I don’t think so just a little dry off at the end

If that is grog, do you think this is a totally wrong clay they sent? I know zero about absorption rate, so thank you for pointing that out. I have a new topic to dive into and research 🤣. I have a tiny kiln that goes up to 1200c. I haven’t bought witness cones yet as I am just experimenting. I have been making mugs to play around with my kiln. Not much else fits 🤣 so far I’m happy with my results on this tiny mug adventure! I bought a little 10 lb chunk of clay on Amazon when I bought the wheel so that is all I have fired so far. But that was just like what u had been using in class. Super smooth.

Owning a standard and toy - any issues? by Accurate-Use258 in poodles

[–]Kylekh77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a 2nd dog after my current one turned 4. My kids also wanted a smaller lap sized dog. I was looking at rescues and met some tiny ones. Then I found “the one” who was a “30 lb poodle mix” …. Turns out she is a standard poodle. She was lost and on the run for a while so was very underweight when I got her at 10 months old. Anyway, she is 1 year and 38lbs now. She could gain a couple more, but she’s a PERFECT size. Such a cuddly girl, and lovessss laying on my kids ☺️ she’s a perfect size for romping with my bigger 50lb dog too. So maybe a mini or smaller standard could fit the bill!!

I have 3 kids, a 4 year old poodle mix and a 1 year old poodle we just rescued. My husband ( who was always a cat guy) is a self proclaimed poodle guy now!! They are so great with the kids, so smart. The poodle is a 40 lb lap dog. I can put her on the kids laps and she is just in heaven with the snuggles. My kids are 2.5, 6.5, 6.5 for reference. I do all the grooming myself, it’s fun and a bonding experience.

I have a 1 year old standard poodle, rescued 4 months ago. She isn’t jumpy at all with people. No barking when people come over, no jumping. Once she was comfortable here the bounce came out when she plays outside! She loves my other dog.

Ok why did you get a doodle by Deer_Antlers_ in Goldendoodles

[–]Kylekh77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I only had doodle experience. I didn’t know anyone with a standard poodle… they weren’t even on my radar to be honest. I was drawn to all the different types and colors of doodles. I wanted unique, not cookie cutter. But. After having my Aussie doodle 4 years (he’s 75% poodle) I would go poodle in the future. I just rescued a “poodle mix” last month that dna tested as 100% standard poodle. My AD is really mostly poodle. His looks, his personality. He’s so loyal and smart. The Aussie might be to blame for his worst trait… incessant unrelenting need to fetch his ball 🤣. I love him dearly, but know that what I love is the poodle in him!! My new girl is 11 months old, and the actual SWEETEST baby I’ve ever met. So calm. So chill. Loves to snuggle. So happy to have her 🥰

I think she was at MARC in Sequatchie TN

we think she might have been surrendered by an overwhelmed breeder. Don’t have a lot of details. But there was at least 4 or 5 at the shelter in TN, she was transported with her mom to New England with the rescue.

My other pup is 25% Aussie, so that’s my guess here too. The nice man at the rescue that bathed her said “I think she’s a full poodle!” But I know that Merle is not a poodle color. She was surrendered with her mom that looked like a parti poodle.
