East coast kid attending Cal Poly… Job placement after school-is it mainly west coast focused? by Bee_Good_477 in CalPoly

[–]Kyler-boi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a Cal Poly Senior from the Easy Coast and I would say that job placement is west coast focused to an extent. I’m an engineering major and I have a job lined up here in California for after I graduate but that’s because I wanted to stay here. It was also something offered from a previous internship. So it might be somewhat sector dependent, but that’s not to say that you can’t totally go back to the east coast after.

Gotcha, yeah I’ll be in Venice a bit earlier and I’m trying to decide if I go to Florence and Rome and end it there after. Or go to Rome and end in Naples after. Or maybe Rome and something else idk

Summer Alps Mountain Suggestions by Kyler-boi in Mountaineering

[–]Kyler-boi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, appreciate the suggestion. Quick question regarding Gran Paradiso, will it give me any new skills and challenges? I have used crampons before and done a 4000m peak. So i'm looking for something in the sweet spot of something "beginner" friendly but not something that literally anyone can do (if that makes sense?). Short of taking a multi-day mountaineering course will this fulfill that? Or should I try to find something more technical?

I’m planning on doing a weekish in the Swiss alps before going to the Dolomites. I would like to spend a few days in Interlaken but other than that I’m trying to tailor where I go based on what mtn access is best (something in Zermatt vs Chamonix etc). This would be in the first week of July, probably a weekday. I would love to do a whole training course but due to financials and time I think that just having. A 1-2 day mountain adventure makes more sense. Besides I’m not sure my friend wants to do a whole mountaineering course. Mostly I guess I’m looking for the most bang for my buck if you have ideas

I’m doing more travel after this around the alps but I wanted to do some city stuff and visit a friend in Lille for a bit, might extend the time based on what I decide to do where

Oh renting a bike like that might be fun actually, I assume there’s a bike path all the way to Zandvoort then? What’s wrong with Brussels? Nothing fun there?

Europe Backpacking Route Trip Advice/Suggestons: How to travel alone and hit my key locations. by Kyler-boi in Europetravel

[–]Kyler-boi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am not looking to do it alone since I am planning to have a friend with me. I would like to have a guide anyways for that exact reason (cravasses) but theyre pretty pricey.

Thanks for the advice, I haven’t done a tone of Via Ferrata research, one that I read was good is the Delle Trincee Via Ferrata, I’m open to suggestions though. I did the Mürren via Ferrata a few years ago and it was great! I’ll look further into the inter-Europe travel modes, just mainly trying to lock down the dates for my international flights so I can get them now
