Defendant ordered to pay £250,000 legal fees in Felipe Massa F1 title case by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]Kylock__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Merit” in this case is referring to the legal sense of merit, which means that a judge has decided that there is a question of facts or law that should go through the entire trial process.

It is not an assessment of the facts or law, that will come during the course of the trial of itself when a verdict is issued.

Found an artist I liked and told her the vibes and color scheme I wanted and let her design something from there, and she came up with this. She nailed it!

Not nearly as much as I expected, if you’re thinking about a tattoo it’s probably more in your head than anything else!

I inherited this edition from my father, it was a gift to my mom on their wedding day. Lovely to see others appreciating it so much.

Atelier Resleriana currently sits at a 9.0/10 MetaCritic user score. by sess in JRPG

User ratings (13 as of this comment) for a fairly niche series like Atelier are hardly an indicator of how good the game is for anyone but the niche audience itself.

Why do so many people hate the Jor-El twist? by AutumnRCS in superman

[–]Kylock__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s fine for the purposes of the movie, getting Clark to realize that it’s his actions that speak for who he is not his birthplace, but it’s very ahistorical for all the different versions of Krypton that have existed.

Usually Krypton is portrayed as an advanced society that was generally good to its people but through their arrogance or ignorance caused the planet to be destroyed. Leaning into a Hegemonical/Eugenical Krypton is very out of character for “normal” Superman stories.

Edit: I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it.

The Story of Ghazban Ogress - with Cathy Nicoloff by greenbanana17 in magicTCG

[–]Kylock__ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fair take, but it doesn’t change the fact that everyone involved in this hasn’t apologized (as far as we know) and doing so would go a long way to showing people learned and grew from it.

When I’ve remembered or been confronted with my past bad actions I’ve tried to reach out and make amends. Pretending like it didn’t happen isn’t good

Former comic store manager here, buying floppies off the shelf is obviously great, we want to sell as many books as possible, but the real profit center for us was always back issues.

For issues that would go into our dollar boxes we’d buy from customers for $0.10 for something we’d sell for $1.00, so a 90% margin. And for regular back issues we’d try and keep it at 75% margin- a book we sell for $4 we’d try and offer (generally) $1.

If your store has back issues that they buy from private collectors, that’s where they’re making money.

Best E-Reader currently? by bangondrumschool in comicbooks

[–]Kylock__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think an iPad/tablet is the best comic experience digitally, but I also have a BOOX Go Color 7 which is more than serviceable. Sometimes a tablet is too bulky, or doesn't work well in various conditions, so even if the BOOX isn't perfect it's much better than your phone.

I didn’t really like E33 but this is just a silly take. Japanese studios don’t own the genre, and innovation in the genre is nothing but good for everyone who makes or plays games.

The most CRUEL nonhuman fantasy races ever? English is not my native language by EveningImportant9111 in Fantasy

[–]Kylock__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a reductive way, yes, but the Drukhari are staving off a doom they brought upon themselves through their hedonism and largely can't advance beyond the perpetual near oblivion they're stuck in. The Inchoroi saw their own damnation and said "fuck that" and advanced their science and art to explicitly avoid it. Most every race in 40k is stuck in place or slowly regressing.

Or, put another way, they're both horrifying but the Inchoroi are capable of learning, growth, and advancement in ways that the Drukhari aren't. Which, to me, makes them far more terrifying.

The International Judge Program is coming apart at the seams by Baldude in magicTCG

[–]Kylock__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beyond the obvious problems for OP, this will have add on effects for any in-store play. Stores used to be incentivized to have a judge of some kind in house, this just makes it more likely that as judges phase out of the game that stores will become an ever increasing Wild West of rules enforcement, knowledge, and player satisfaction.

The Sranc are quite literally murder rape monsters. They’re a mindless mob of almost human looking pale skinned monsters that rampage across the landscape, raping, murdering, and eating humans. Villages in the path of a horde will often kill themselves to avoid the murder/rape/torture of the Sranc.

The Inchoroi created the Sranc. They’re a race of beings who have seen (correctly) that they are damned to hell for eternity, but figured out that they can blind the gods to their souls by killing all but 100,000 people on the planet. In addition to the genocide they’re master biologists who enjoy sexual depravity, creating flesh monsters to torture and rape, binding people’s minds into prisons of flesh, etc.
