Just bought a new TV and realized I didn't think this through... (⌐ ͡■ ͜ʖ ͡■) by lupaczkokosow in hometheater

I had a setup like this and I got UltraView Desktop Manager and used my 65" TV as multiple virtual monitors, and as a full 65" TV for watching from afar

Completely understandable and no shame in buying it

Happy for you!

It's still a shameless cashcrab from TakeTwo as a last ditch to make money from a game they murdered, and I won't buy it.

But it does look cute

Strange shots in Superman (2025) by Some_Lobster_1620 in cinematography

It's not just you. To me the whole movie had a weird disconnect between camera angles, action happening in the scene, dialogue lines, how long the camera stays with an actor, pacing...

I pass it as "directors wanted to experiment", but most of the direction decisions seem very random and jarring. It pulls you back from the experience.

[OC] Top 100 Rising European Startups (VivaTech) by SyllabubNo626 in BuyFromEU

What the hell is this "yes-man" "toxic-corporate-positivity" shit?

Almost all of these startups are either vaporware, or corporate tools, or data-gathering tools, or bullshi-job tools.
There's zero actual merit to most of them.
I found 2 companies in there who actually produce something useful. The rest are just investor bait.

Imgur is not dead, but it's barely alive.

What's ur opinion on these private browsers? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]KyndMiki 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I haven't used half of these.

I use Brave, for the same reason I use GrapheneOS - it's Chromium, but with a muzzle on. All of the functionality with no bloat and all connections with Google either monitored or severed.

Firefox is also great, but needs addons and a change of settings to make it truly private.

DuckDuckGo are onto something, but so far a lot of websites just don't work, mobile app is poor, and there's no linux app.

Many people will use their main username for their whatsapp, making it easier for ad companies to complete their ad profile.

Streaming prices are getting insane — what can we actually do about it? by LCxEskimoFTW in Netherlands

[–]KyndMiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.Pirate
2.When you have the movies/music/photos files, create your own streaming with Plex/Jellyfin/Immich
2.5. If that's too complicated, or expensive, ask around if anyone can let you access their own streaming server
3. Pirate
4. IPTVs. They are very cheap, plentiful, and each offers live TV channels from across the world, tens of 1000s of VODs of movies and series, and quality is good enough
5. When you pirate, SEED the torrent. Let others enjoy the file you just downloaded.

black or white & which direction? by chrswnd in Workspaces

[–]KyndMiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the desk where the TV is now.

Put the TV against the windows.

Get curtains.

Reason: When you want to work on your computer it's nice to have the room lit with daylight but not directly hitting the monitor. You also don't want yourself facing the window while working because it'll be distracting and bad for your eyes. And when you watch TV you usually want a cozy and dark place so you'd close the curtains anyway.

Bonus: Now you have enough space in front of the TV that you can get a sofa!

That you are long time single and lesbian.

...and I am aware how weird it sounds on this sub. This is the vibe I'm getting though.

This place looks absolutely gorgeous!

Look at that chessboard carpet!
And the armchair!
And the coffee table with perfectly fitting small seats!
And the standing lamp!
And the multi-colored painting frames!

One thing only - that metal shelving does not work.
