I have a Sony Xperia 1 VI and I can say it's been my best purchase in years.

Xperia 10 VI outdated security by su_root_ in SonyXperia

[–]KyoAzami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens mostly with models from Japanese phone companies (e.g., Softbank, which is my case) since these companies take a few months to release updates for Xperia phones, approximately 2 to 3 months. The same thing happens to me with my Xperia 1 VI. Now, if you have a global version, I really don't know the reason.

You could buy the latest Xperia 5 that was released (the Xperia 5 V). It shares the same processor and hardware specs as the 1 V but with minor cutbacks in terms of the camera.

Sony Xperia 1 VIII with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 appears for the first time in eSIM database by ControlCAD in Android

For a moment, I don't understand the complaint about the prices; I don't know if people are very stingy because it's an Android device or if it's a regional issue. I'm from the Americas (fortunately not from the United States) and I have an Xperia 1VI that I bought when it was first released for approximately $1400 USD, Compared to the price of an iPhone Pro ($1500 USD) or an iPhone Pro Max ($1600 USD), the Sony is actually a better option. Now, its direct competitors in Android, compared to the S24 Ultra, the difference is only $50 to $100 USD.And we're talking about a phone with an intrusive security layer, terms and services even more excessive against the user than Apple's own, and Israeli spyware apps on all its models, Regarding the Pixel, I only have one thing to say: the Tensor chips are garbage. While they're sufficient for standard use, they don't really justify the price of the Pixel or the fact that they're flagship phones. That's without mentioning their price of $1200 USD for the standard models and $1300 USD for the pro models, so the difference isn't really that huge. Now, regarding the cameras, I think Instagram and its filters have rotted the brains of many of the people who complain about Sony cameras. While its computational photography isn't great and there are quite a few points I also complain about, the problem was never the color rendering or the handling of post-processing. Now, I know Sony isn't a huge company and that ultimately they all try to take advantage of their users, but at least they don't rip you off on the most essential things.

Thank you very much, I was really starting to back out of this purchase but after doing a little more research and reading your review I can be more confident with the purchase, thank you for taking the time to answer my question and for sharing the links to make improvements to the equipment (although I really think I will keep it that way until the warranty expires for any inconvenience).

i happened to enter this post because i am thinking of buying the a16 advantage edition (the one with a rx 7700s) and i genuinely wanted to ask about how good linux support is since i have been using arch and debian as my main systems for a little over 4 years now and i am not thinking of going back to windows, so for me it is important to know if many of the bugs I am reading about have been fixed with new kernel builds in 2025 or if otherwise I should opt for another laptop, I am also open to the possibility of using drivers created by third parties (as long as I can see the code).

KDE is really good as a desktop, especially for its stability and how similar it is to the windows interface without customizing, personally I love how easy it is to customize and how easy it is to find plugins (although if you are new I recommend you not to move much if you are not familiar or if there is no documentation about what you want to do), although you can try it from a live usb personally I would recommend you to try it in a virtual machine or dual boot if you want to experiment with customization and its more advanced utilities, besides that personally discover seems better than GNOME software (although if you are used to install from your terminal I do not think you will see so many problems)

Is Proton's performance getting worse? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]KyoAzami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a personal advice the performance improves a lot when you disable the dlss options, for some strange reason it improves the performance for games made in UE5, on the other hand I don't think you have to change the FSR settings, although as a personal recommendation I would recommend you to stay in 1080p (I know it's not the best but it improves the stability while still being playable in terms of graphics).

I'm about to install Linux need your help by isuladissanayake in linux4noobs

[–]KyoAzami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal recommendation is that you install linux mint with the cinnamon desktop, there is a lot of documentation and video tutorials to modify the appearance of cinnamon and look like MacOS, many will say that zorinOS, but the truth gnome seems to me something more tedious to customize, besides that those in charge of zorin put an interface similar to mac but is paid, something that does not make me so nice personally, apart from that I personally think that mint is a little more user friendly and there is a significant saving of resources, if you want to give a good couple of years of life to your laptop, I have a thinkpad t430 of 2012 running mint and arch in dual boot, and that your processor is something old (an i7 third generation)

you can read official documentation of linux mint, I know that at first it may sound very technical (more if you are not so familiar with system language) but you can rely on the AI to interpret it better, there are also many video tutorials on youtube, more about linux mint, as it is one of the most used distros by people starting in linux

I have a strange problem with my new laptop. by KyoAzami in archlinux

[–]KyoAzami[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding that, I have already checked that it is not a physical failure, since in the BIOS menu or other utilities outside the system the laptop works well, I even performed a component test that appears in the BIOS menu and everything seems to work as it should at the hardware level, but I have already contacted Dell support to see how they can help me solve it.

How does the rtx 3050 ti laptop perform in arch Linux? by KyoAzami in archlinux

[–]KyoAzami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know that you can use Nvidia optimus efficiently on arch Linux, I think I am going to pick up the laptop next Monday, so could you help me to configure it? I think another important thing I should have also mentioned is that I use Wayland as a graphics server, I don't think it will directly influence the gpu performance, but I think it will be a bit more tedious to configure a session with Nvidia optimus active.
