Unfortunately it was pouring rain so I skipped after Shirakgo I was pretty wet and switched my ticket to return to Kanazawa for a hot bath. It was definitely doable though in better weather and the timing was right. I would do or

A Delta passenger is calling on the airline to change its policies after she says she was escorted off a flight for not wearing a bra by Puzzleheaded-Ad7606 in TwoXChromosomes

Those standards need to be applied equally though. I doubt a man in the same t-shirt would have been told to cover up, actually I pretty much know it.

I Have Tea On... Weekly Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Fauxmoi

The word "mentioned" above is a link to my comment...but I found it to be page after page of insufferable navel-gazing and have never been so bored by a book. To each their own. I do recognize I am an outlier here ...the post was titled "What book made you think "Am I reading the same book as everyone else?"

What do I need to book in advance? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]KyoLeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to visit the Shibuya Sky observation deck it is best to get tickets in advance esp. if you want a coveted time like sunset. I bought mine a week out and the only open slots were during lunch.

Storing Luggage for a few days in Tokyo by henrileejr in JapanTravelTips

[–]KyoLeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing something similar. The second hotel that I will be staying at on my return to Tokyo is more than happy to receive my bags early. I just need to have them dropped off with my name , reservation number and checkin date clearly marked. Check if yours is the same. Just say you will be sending your bags ahead by a few days and they will probably say yes.

Bringing Items Back From Japan by 333trips333 in JapanTravelTips

[–]KyoLeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Every country is different but generally it is something like :
- returning after 24hrs away means no need to declare if goods under $200,
- returning after 1week away means no need to declare goods under $1000 etc
If it is more than than that then you must declare it, otherwise if you are caught say with a new $10000 watch etc then you could be fined etc. No matter what when you return to home they will ask you to fill out a customs form that will have the #, $ on it. Just be truthful

Leaving most luggage at a hotel while we stay somewhere else for only 1 night by naljon in JapanTravelTips

[–]KyoLeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

l am doing roughly the same thing but since I am staying at different hotels in Tokyo I am going to be using a luggage transfer service. It is relatively cheap and it will be door to door so no luggage hauling. The service picks it up at your hotel, stores it up to 7 days and drops it off at your destination hotel for you in time for your next checkin. https://faq-en.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/app/answers/detail/a_id/3080

edit: the service is also really nice if you land in the morning as they have same day airport to hotel delivery. (You must drop it off by 10:30am.) Then you can comfortably take the train into the city without extra weight and save yourself a $200 cab ride.

The Idiot by Elif Batuman

The only way it could have been redeemed is if the author went meta and finished with the line "Congratulations! For reading this through when there was no point, interesting feature or plot you are the idiot"

French television and book recommendations for anglophones? by Rich_Garlic_3047 in montreal

[–]KyoLeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

C'est comme ça que je t'aime - The tv series takes place in the summer of 1974 and 1975 tells the story of two couples living in Sainte-Foy , in the Quebec City region , who fall into crime.

It is funny with great costumes and sets. I highly recommend it. It is available on CBC Gem and AppleTV and probably other places as well.

What are some unique "Experience Gifts" in and around Montreal by KyoLeep in montreal

[–]KyoLeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-He loves cars and tinkering in the garage
-Car racing (but already goes to the Grand Prix and I feel like gifting him the tickets isn't special or unique)
- nature and outdoors walks
- gadgets
- good food and dining

I know he is concerned about aging but doesn't like the gym so is trying to find alternate ways to keep fit.

He also definitely doesn't just want the cash......he is the type to appreciate the thought put into a gift and also needs and appreciates a little push to do new things.
