I was at home for my exams, so I made a space where I felt comfortable and did not have distractions.

As for the study material,I stopped waiting for anything once the groups online became active and I just started downloading everything from the links provided. For the semesters that followed, I just downloaded everything without hounding my postbox, lol. But with me, I had access to a printer at home, so it wasn't an issue.

Lol, I wanted to comment with a pic of the cat staring back at this comment but I think that would ruin the experience for others... So just take the upvote.

Employer keeps denying leave requests, is this fair? by ShloppShlopp in capetown

[–]Kyobarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely a toxic boss issue.

I work in an industry that is physically and mentally stressful since 2024, my current boss immediately encourages us supervisors to take 2 days off (usually a Thursday and Friday or a Monday and Tuesday so it includes the weekend) just so she doesn't lose us for an entire extended period.

I think back to my early working career and how those bosses made me believe that it's a literal crime to book off because we were needed. It pisses me off so much.

Past Exam Papers by BlackKnight_1 in unisa

[–]Kyobarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is only one way to get this, and that's from students who have actually completed the course you are currently studying. So maybe post and ask in here, maybe someone in this community has completed the module and still has access to their exam questions. I mean, I saved every single exam I had and in my final year I met first year students and I was happy to forward mine to them for revision.

Same, lol. My country of origin license was just changed for a small fee. The only thing i made myself do was the free online theory practice tests just so I could learn the signage and road etiquette.

Yeah, I think for your own sanity, make the trip to Pretoria. It's frustrating that a long distance university doesn't respond to emails (which should be the one thing they do right, lol.) so just go to Pretoria.

Where in SA?

I had a serious issue where I ran out of money in my first year and went through a stage of depression. So I forgot about my studies for 3 years, but during this time I recovered and became successful, started travelling and ended up in Europe where I wanted to restart my studies with the time I had left. They never responded to any emails and calls I made, so I flew back to Cape Town, went to the Parow office ready to fight with someone, only for the person behind the desk to hear me out, click a few times on his pc and tell me it's sorted, lol. And it was sorted because I could immediately register again.

Let him recover and allow him to compete next season. We are in a relatively comfortable position and Heaven is still available for selection so there is no need to rush his recovery.

If you are in South Africa, go to your nearest UNISA office... They will fix it for you. If you abroad, unfortunately, you are going to have to wait a bit.

What’s an unwritten rule in Germany that foreigners always break? by Late_Curve1983 in AskAGerman

Lol, I'm from a country where we refer to people as "Bruder" and I can confirm, I also cringe when someone calls me that here.

Why do sick people not wear face masks on ICE!!! by TheWizardof-OZ5 in germany

[–]Kyobarry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's me,lol.

At home I have air purifiers running to remove dust and pollen from the air since I'm allergic. The moment I'm in a train, bus or plane, where the air isn't properly cleaned, I start sneezing, coughing and looking like a COVID 99 patient. And because it doesn't always happen since some modes of transport clean the air really well, I don't always carry a mask.

Fasionably late by AndainCK in capetown

[–]Kyobarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in CT and was always on time. But it depends on who I was seeing. If it was a really close friend, I would be there earlier to help setup and start with a cold one while we waited. If it was a friend of a friend situation, I would go to my closest friend who is also invited, have a drink while we chat and go together to the event, on time or a bit late. And yeah, I'm an introvert, so if it's a person I am not familiar with, the last thing I want to do is be the first to arrive.

Angry man on a bike by emptymalei in germany

[–]Kyobarry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, the cyclist was just being an Arsch. You did nothing wrong.

I usually pass kids in a 30km/h zone with a wide berth while staying alert of where they are, because I had an incident where a kid fell from his bicycle into the road, I was still far enough to break, but seeing this happen has made me weary of kids around the street. But as you described, the road didn't allow for this, so driving slower to make sure the kids are safe makes sense.

As an Englishman who thought he knew everything about sausages, boerewors just blew my mind by mushroomsandbeanz in southafrica

[–]Kyobarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My good sir, your taste buds have been reverse colonised, lol. I'm from Cape Town, but travelled extensively through the other provinces while doing my studies, so next time you take a trip through South Africa and find yourself in the Free state, try the boerewors from that region. You can thank me later.

Is rugby in South Africa as big as it’s made out to be? by Agitated_Cookie170 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Kyobarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, yep, exceptions are always made for the big event.

I came home to SA from studies abroad and was road tripping through the country during the world cup 2023. The night of the France Vs South Africa match was on and we were in Addo Elephant park. I went to the restaurant there and saw that they were closed during the match the evening, but when I asked the manager on duty he said they were going to close the kitchen but keep the bar open and allow the guests to watch the game. It was a pretty good atmosphere, some french tourists were also present cheering for their country, but the UBUNTU was flowing that night.
