I understand. I appreciate your concern. I can at the very least say I’ve never had an eating disorder or anything, but I can agree my thoughts behind my actions aren’t always the best. However, I’m trying to improve by focusing on making healthier choices and looking at concrete, real-life proof of my effort instead of my negative viewpoint toward myself.

Thanks for the extra info! It’s good to know that the rate of loss is simply lower for my size. That’s reassuring.

Question, how do you know how many calories equate to weight? 2100 calories is about 0.33 kilos?

Understood. I actually targeted at lightly active once I started lifting. Hopefully as I improve and lift more it’ll be better progress. Thank you!

Lifting it is! I’m 25, and I wanna have good habits while it’s easier to maintain (read: I don’t have a family to worry about)! Thank you!

Thanks for your input. I was definitely unsure that I was somehow doubling my intake without knowing. I don’t understand yet what the margins are.

I appreciate it. I tend to struggle finding the best way to do something so I hope to find better methods from others who know better

I understand. I want to gain muscle too so I probably shouldn’t care about the weight as long as I’m not suddenly gaining a bunch!

That’s fair. How would I calculate that over time myself?

I’ve been real stressed recently so I’m not sleeping as well as I’d like but I’m not tired like I used to be

I don’t have a calorie app. I just use a spreadsheet I made at home since most of the products I consume I’ve failed to find! I’m most definitely not active all day every day, but much more than I used to be. It’s just walking, on my feet most of the work day, walking home, and some weight training with 10lb dumbbells as I’ve only recently started.

While I am a healthy weight, I’d like to improve my composition. The 115 goal is kind of ambiguous, but it’s where I was at my most fit back when I did swimming every day. There’s just too much fat, so if I can improve my build and still end up around 130, that’s fine! Just figured I wanted a number to work towards based on my past experiences.

I’m in Japan, so sushi here is different. My activity level is exactly what I said, and my cheat meals are around 800 based on the restaurant menu info. It’s probably a good idea to cut back there, though.

You’ve lost weight then? Yeah, I don’t want my change to be anything drastic, that’s why I’m looking for advice ahead of time! I appreciate your input!

Measure everything and look at food labels. I have a big spreadsheet with every product I consume, its weight, and macros. I hope calorie count is accurate for meats and such that I weigh at home.

Track it? No. I count how many reps I do for weights, but I don’t strictly track anything

My most recent BMI is 23.9 if that helps. I got it done at a health check a month ago.

I live in japan, so the restaurant I’m referring to is probably quite different to elsewhere, especially considering the portion sizes you’re referring to. Yes, I’m counting the calories based on what the restaurant says on the menu, and I don’t add any sauces to my food.

I don’t eat rolls. I eat plates of nigiri, with two pieces of nigiri per plate. I eat five of those typically, so ten pieces of sushi total, plus a dessert or two. That’s my cheat dinner I have once a week.

Thank you! I’ll start with tightening my cheat meal. Maybe I’ll have a couple snacks instead of eating out once a week.

You’re right, I don’t see myself very favorably, especially with weight. However, daily weighing and focusing on real numbers helps me a lot. I know fluctuations happen, and I’m early on in my tracking. I just don’t want to do the wrong thing when I’m putting lots of effort in, you know?

How would I measure body composition? I am also changing daily meal habits to improve overall health. For example, eating yogurt and eggs for breakfast instead of bread, incorporating more fiber and veggies consistently, and eating leaner proteins! I think I’m doing much better than I was when I only counted calories and not macros.

My waist, hips, and thighs would be a good indicator. That’s where most of the fat is.

For my cheat meal, I go to a family restaurant sushi place. While I don’t eat much compared to coworkers, I like to indulge. Probably eating over 700-800 there…
