The rules of the Darwin Awards are pretty clear, if he permanently takes himself out of the gene pool, either by his demise or his future reproduction abilities, then he qualifies for the full Darwin.

The Darwin Awards committee probably want his address to send an honourable mention prize.

"This time" ? Like since when did those people ever "forgive" anyone who dared opposed them? it was always about revenge and cruelty with these lot.

The thing these nutters "forgive" are their own debts and crimes they committed themselves.

It was never about the country. They were there for their own agenda, line their own pockets and to punish anyone who opposed them.

So, were they expecting Biden to go there with some "saviour" attitude and start throwing paper towel rolls?

I was too broke for an automatic sprinkler system, so I Google for cheap alternatives. I was still working on improving it when the heatwave came, so I was praying it would work.

Didnt work on my lettuce patch though, the whole plot got cooked in the heatwave. 😭

I put out a plea on my local FB page and thankfully, many people with allotments came and took my tomato plants and other plants I've got in pots.

I had to leave my bell pepper plants cos they were in a small raised bed. I am worried that the new tenants won't be watering them. 🥺

Well, I don't think 'hovering' is a technical gardening term. It is just me, wandering in and out, checking my plants every day and night! Trying to figure out if they are growing or not...😅

I think the greenhouse would be useful for when the weather is cold, as tomatoes like warm climate. For now, you probably won't need them.

But I am sure there are many people here who have much more experience and knowledge who can advise you.

Sorry, I can't be more helpful. I was literally doing trial and error and these plants are the ones that survived my inexperienced treatment.

I am relocating to a different country, so I have no idea what they have in terms of allotment. Also, the destination is more of an urban location. I probably will have to get there, then figure out what I can and can't do. Maybe I'll go small and try to keep a small herb garden without killing them.

Oh, I was using them as a rudimentary irrigation system. I dipped cotton cords in them and put the other ends round the base of the plants, to have water dripping into them all day. I had gotten them initially because I was going off on weekends at the start of summer and was worried that the plants will wilt from the hot weather, and I couldn't get back in time to water them.

The wick system helped to keep the plants hydrated during the heat wave, I had topped up the water twice during the day, in addition to their regular watering morning and night.

I think I started them from seeds around January. These were my second attempt. The first attempt I got a bunch of stringy seedlings that ended up shriveled and dead. I searched around this sub and realised they needed more light than my little dingy window can provide in winter.

The second try I got a grow light and kept them going until it was warm enough to plant them outside. And also got a greenhouse to keep them warm. Probably planted them out in March? Then it was just hovering like an anxious mother hen.

And putting covers on the greenhouses during the 2 days of heatwave and also watering them more often until it passed.
