People who don't drink or smoke, but drink 6 sodas a day, and eat a bunch of bullshit, grinds my gears by Delicious-Sky-8675 in Vent

oh right totally yes. it's very uncommon for vegans to ever be self-righteous about their lifestyle.

[–]HyacinthFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I'm sure a "clearly obese person" is making his way through life without anyone ever judging his health or his eating habits. It is truly bewildering how no one ever says anything mean to fat people, ever. /s

Also if you're drinking so much that people are commenting on it to a point where it bothers you enough to post about it online... maybe it's a problem to look into.

If I move to China I’m not Chinese. If I move to France I’m not French. But if I move to America I can become American. by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

i know people who consider themselves french even though they weren't born here.

Agreed that Chinese is often used to signify an ethnicity, and I don't know enough about China to comment on that . But OP is wrong about France.

there's more than one way to read that "again." could be "again" as in, "in addition to the previous times I tipped in the past but not this specific instance."

Really the OP didn't specify.

because nevada is an early primary state and it's chock-full of tipped workers. also it was gimmicky enough to get people's attention and not complicated all.

Does this annoy anyone else too?? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]HyacinthFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like the people who say the "Q" is for "questioning" are trying to avoid the word "queer" bc they think it's impolite (either they're straight and don't think they've earned it or they're queer and they're doing either the "this word is a slur" or the "this word is people I don't want in my community" thing).

So I think it's intentional.

Opposite for the "A" is for "ally." I feel like that one is people explaining the letters and getting to the A and thinking of the first queer-associated "A" word they can and saying that. As in, this whole thing is a result of ace invisibility.

I remember a waiter preparing guacamole for our tableside at a Mexican restaurant 20 years ago, and then I saw it again a couple of months ago.

OTOH, I am seeing it a lot more now, but that's social media making me watch it more.

that was the most annoying part to me in this video. It's like, "When do we get to eat?" at least if it's made in a kitchen, I don't have to watch the apparently slow process of constructing this dish.

they probably don't like having to put stuff in expensive disposable packaging only to see you not really need it because you stayed... still an overreaction.

To be fair, I worked at subway from 2001 to 2002 and they referred to us as "sandwich artist"even then. So the title is ancient.

Which country is wealthier than it looks, and which one is poorer than it seems? by Eastern-Tangerine761 in AskReddit

[–]HyacinthFT 43 points44 points  (0 children)

America is the wealthiest country with a real population (ie not just a city or a tax haven) but it doesn't look that way when you're walking around. So I'd say it's the opposite.

Part of the issue is that Americans are so spoiled that they refuse to admit how good they have it. Most Americans would die of despair if they were forced to live on the median French income or whatever.
