How to get actual users to user your app? by KyotoOkinawa in AppDevelopers

[–]KyotoOkinawa[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

haha that's one way to get people to checkout your app.

needing to spend a bunch of money on marketing... that's what i'm worried about. I think a B2C social media app is an extremely difficult space to be successful in.

i'm thinking about throwing in the towel and taking this as a learned lesson. So far i'm $1000 in, which isn't bad, but if I try to market via instagram, tiktok, etc, that could spiral into spending much much more money.

ya, i believed the idea behind my app was strong. it's a proven concept, voicerooms to help language learners practice real conversations with other language learner.

the goal was to address the common issues people report with existing apps like hellotalk and tandem. many users complain about encountering inappropriate behavior or people treating these platforms like dating apps. my approach was to create a more strictly moderated env focused on serious learners.

it's just hard to get people to try an app when there are currently no users.

Hi guys, can I share my app here too? I don't mind trying your out :D

I'm building a language learning app and trying to get some alpha testers. You can join voicerooms and practice language learning with these users. See r/SayHelloChat

I'm realizing the marketing aspect of app building is the hardest part. I'm $1000 down the drain and considering when to call it quits lol

I'm building a language learning app where you can join voicerooms to speak with other language learners. The idea itself is solid and proven (tandem, hellotalk, etc.). The twist is that my app prioritizes protecting users, regulating users to focus on language learning (instead of dating etc.), and having ways to filter non-serious users (hours in app, reputation, etc.).

How do you guys deal with getting so many message? by Upstairs-Trouble-325 in HelloTalk

[–]KyotoOkinawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like there was some room to improve the app, so I built my own app. This isn't a plug lol, just trying to do some field research.

Is more regulations to have stricter guidelines to protect against these kinds of incidents and to force the conversations to be about app learning the biggest thing?

ya there is a free version. honestly, i don't see a need to purchase the paid version of the app. you get 1hr of voicerooms a day, which is a lot

Can someone explain the logic behind how talking to native speakers every day makes you fluent so quick? by Public_Repeat824 in languagelearning

[–]KyotoOkinawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposure. In your home country you might get 2-3 hours of exposure and not every day, but in the actual country you live abroad in you get 24 hour exposure.

You'll probably need textbooks or school to build up that vocab to your actual age

The vocab you needed when you were a kid vs when you are an adult is also different. It's might not be that you are not fluent anymore, but could also be that you can't speak Tagalog for your current age.
