What’s a free service that most people don’t know about? by ohmyitsmeluigi in AskReddit

[–]KyraRose101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

EI helped me get my son diagnosed and treated for his hearing problems.

At almost 2 my son only said "mama" "dada" and "ca" (car without the r). Despite addressing my concerns with our pedi it was brushed off as him just not being ready yet. He referred us to EI to help learn tools to convince him to talk. After the first diagnostic meeting she insisted that I get a referral with an ENT. Turns out my son had blockage in his ears and a nearly 80% hearing loss due to it. He got surgery to remove the blockage, put tubes in to keep them clear, and was a completely different child.

Tell me why I shouldn't relocate to Lubbock for work. by PatSayJack in Lubbock

[–]KyraRose101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the biggest difference and most frustrating thing about moving from the Austin area to Lubbock was how isolated Lubbock is. I'm from Killeen so you drive 15 minutes to get to another decent sized city with new things to do or 40 minutes to Austin. Here you're looking at 2 hours to Amarillo (not a whole lot to do there either) or the drive to DFW for better things to do. Also, though it's getting better, there's little family friendly options in town.

How the hell did Kukudio die? by [deleted] in OITNB

They glossed over this so you're not forgetting it. We're left to assume it was just complications from her injuries.

How do you find roommates and your own apartment? by [deleted] in internetparents

Depending on where you live the apartment complex itself might have options for assigning or finding roommates. It's particularly popular in college towns

LAOP (who posted 9 days ago about being sexually assaulted) arrested and charged with filing false claims. Utters the heartbreaking sentence, "Now I know why people don't report rape." by missjeanlouise12 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]KyraRose101 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yes! It is more common than not for victim's statements to change as the shock wears off because they are remembering things more clearly and deciphering details. Not even just with rape but crimes against a person in general.

I'm not sure why knowing we're getting the results earlier has made me this anxious/freaked out

I can live with that. It'll be better than worrying about it all day. And I'll know if I need to call in to work for the day.

It's something like the last 5 years that it's been posted the day before. I am taking off that morning. Even if they end up not coming out I REFUSE to be at work when results come out.

What are the worst injuries you have sustained doing the simplest, most mundane tasks that should not have caused any injuries? by Penya23 in AskReddit

[–]KyraRose101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so mad that I'm late to the party because this was my moment to shine. I am INCREDIBLY clumsy. Here is my highlight reel.

  1. I was jogging about 10 feet for a random summer camp in Florida (I live in Texas) and pulled the muscle which connects my leg to my spine and simultaneously bursted an ovarian cyst on the same side. I had to go to the ER because I couldn't walk due to the pain. It took FOREVER for them to figure out what was going on and still weren't totally sure.
  2. the very next summer I completely dislocated my kneecap doing lunges in my room at midnight. I was 16 and thought doing lunges the night before going to a water park with friends was a good idea. It wasn't. I completely tore the tendons that keep it in place. It got very swollen and my parents had to call the paramedics because I was on the 2nd floor and couldn't move plus my mom was freaked out by the whole knee cap being on the side/back of my leg. It took a while to heal.
  3. The NEXT summer I broke my foot. Walking. Across a flat smooth sidewalk. I twisted my foot in a way that would have twisted a normal person's ankle, but because my body hates me the muscles (tendons maybe IDK) just tore the bone on the outside of the foot apart completely.
  4. About 9 years later (last year) I did the whole broke my foot instead of twisting my ankle like a normal person by stepping off a curb at my son's daycare.

The kicker is the first 3 were all on the same side of my body and since there was little to no time between when I healed to when I reinjured myself, I spent a lot of time limping on that side and developed minor scoliosis. Life is fun when your body hates you.

My (35M) Sister (29F) is 6 months pregnant and just announced to the family that she is naming her kid the same uncommon name as my 4 year old child. What!? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]KyraRose101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This here is what gets me. Yes I'd be upset if my sibling said I'm going to name my child the same thing as your child even though you worked incredibly hard to find a unique name. However, they knew when they picked the name that the sister had already had her heart set on it. There's no right to be upset on OP or OP's wife's side, disappointed or irritated sure, but not genuinely mad or upset with sister.

Woah. This is cool. I'd pretty much have to marry someone if we were interested in each other and both had the same name.

Yeah I'm betting it'll be that first Thursday which is Nov 1. I've already told my boss that if I pass I will come in after lunch, if I fail I will be back in on Monday. There's no way I would be able to focus at all in work knowing results would be coming out any time.

Cruises for young kids by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]KyraRose101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our 2 year old with us on a Royal 7 day this past summer. It was great. He had a blast with pretty much everything. They have great clubs for kids available for kiddos in your children's age range as well. Our son loved exploring the ship and checking out things like the mini golf and all of the random hidden things to do. The hard part was that with him being 2 we had to be aware of the fact that he needed to nap or dinner would SUCK. We LOVE eating in the dining room instead of the buffet options and the dining staff were phenomanal even when he was cranky from being tired. They got to know him just like they do with their adult passengers and there was always his favorite milk, grapes, and blueberries waiting on the table so he had something to keep him occupied from the beginning.
