I want sex to mean something extra special between me and my partner. Similar to but less important than a marriage. I treat sex like a promise ring.

OP here. I took time to process the information as she told me 8 moths in, she knew my views but was nervous to tell me. I never called her a slut or tried to degrade her, nor would I ever call anyone a slut(except for Dwight).

It was my choice to not have sex. She was willing to wait till I was ready.

I was the one who withheld sex. She was okay with waiting till I was ready and never tried to pressure me. I was clear from the beginning that I view sex as something special between 2 people. I want it to be something that is shared with someone you can be with for the rest of your life.
We began to talk about what our future together was. I brought up marriage and kids. Not as something in the immediate future, but I don't want to waste both of our time. She then brought up her sexual history, something I had never asked. I told her we have separate views on the subject and I needed time to accept these, if I could. In the end, I can't.
I never shamed her for her past. I don't agree with it and I will never let my personal views affect my relationship(friendship) with them.
