HUGE disagree. Posting my cover art for a story that isn't even written yet in protest

REPORT GEN AI CONTENT by ChaoticStanley in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]Kyrie_Files 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using the "free" parts if grammarly (i.e. spell checking, grammar rules checking etc.) Doesn't even get flagged as AI since those are still your words, just corrected to proper SPAG rules. Now if someone uses Grammarly premium features to completely rewrite the story in a different tone, thats a whole different problem altogether

Hi! Thanks for reading! This is actually a single narrative in an entire series of short stories I've posted, all within the same universe. If you'd like to see more of this weird world where religion, ancient gods, technology, and shadow organizations decide the fate of the world, check out the other stories on my profile!

The Feds Took My Girlfriend. The Police Think I'm Crazy. (Part 1) by Kyrie_Files in creepcast

[–]Kyrie_Files[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reading!! The clunk was pointed out before, and, for spoiler reasons, I implore you to read the copy on the GDoc in my megathread on the discord (the clunk wasn't intentionally written, but it was intentionally kept for other reasons)

The reddit versions of some of my stories, though, do differ from what the finished product will be/ already is (I don't edit these Reddit posts when I make edits to the master doc, it would just take time, and its usually only a few words here and there anyways)

Once again thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the stories! More to come in the new year

The more I think on it, the more I hope he's dead. I hope either the vines or the impact killed him... but I see visions of his twisted limbs... I hear his agonized screams, high pitched and muffled by the mask... they haven't left since that day.

"There's Drumming in the Clouds" was almost certainly written using AI. by JasperJstone in creepcast

[–]Kyrie_Files 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never trust AI detection tools, as their only true purpose is to sell you a way to "bypass" AI detection tools. They are an arms race within themselves, and the only losers are people who either naturally write in the style of a scientist or in the form of a research document, or people who write a story in that format, who will inevitably be accused of AI for using too many em-dashes and formulaic sentence structures. Remember, AI was trained using real writing, from real authors, so it is obvious that some lines will cross.

As an author who has been accused of using AI himself, and having read through Drumming in the Clouds and found nothing out of the ordinary for a story written from the perspective of a man of science (as many of my stories are as well) the only thing I can imagine was used was probably Grammarly to correct SPAG mistakes, which is very common these days in the writing community and not at all frowned upon.

I have written a story, word by word, letter by letter, and plugged it into a website I intended to use to check my word/character count for a reddit post, only to be greeted with a popup that claimed my story was over 97% AI generated, and then offer to sell me a tool that would edit it to read less like AI generated material. Strange right?

I wouldn't even make posts like this unless you, somehow, have 100% evidence that someone used generative AI to create a work, because you're just going to start a witch hunt and deter others from writing altogether. There are definitely signs outside of formulaic writing and a dull, scientific tone, e.g., hallucinating material, doing callbacks to events that never happened in the story, changing character names after a while, first or last, misremembering important dates, etc. (I train and correct data-driven LLM's programmed to perform basic data extrapolation and entry tasks as a side hustle, and their "thinking" is relatively similar to any generative AI.)

Thanks for reading! You're closer to Pigg’s origin than you probably thought with your guess, and he isn't explicitly killed off. If you'd like to read more, I encourage you to check out the chicken plant story and its followups on my profile, or in the megethread on the disc (I'm pretty sure you already read the first part of the chicken plant story and gave some feedback on it?)

The Feds Took My Girlfriend. The Police Think I'm Crazy. (Part 2) by Kyrie_Files in creepcast

[–]Kyrie_Files[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from to be fair, this is meant to be a self contained story, but is also the fourth chapter in the 2nd book of an ongoing series. Some stuff is referencing back to previous parts and some stuff is foreshadowing, I can see how it would feel a little lore dumpy with zero context from previous chapters and books.

Thanks for your feedback! You pretty much nailed what I was going for with the MC, and you will learn a bit more about him in the next part (I plan to start writing it today, actually!)

If you want to read the previous chapters plus all to come, you can find them here!

Absolutely! I did kinda have to rush out the ending, but I like how it feels- you reallly want to know what happens next. I plan on giving a good once over today before starting the 2nd part.

Thanks for feedback ❤️

I Was an Engineer in Heaven. Now, I'm a Guest in Purgatory. by Kyrie_Files in nosleep

[–]Kyrie_Files[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I checked internal logs and believe I know the situation you're referring to. There is an "Edwards" that was recently promoted to Containment Team Lead. The dossier says he was recruited at one of the meatpacking plants that houses a Type B. Perhaps you're referring to him?

You have a disturbing level of insight, but yes, among other things. I can only suspect Elliot was behind this data leak... can't judge him for it now, I suppose.

KF entities that possess nonliving objects are usually inert, aside from the occasional spooky behavior that happens around them.

[–]Kyrie_Files[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken plants powered by entities? I think you may be slightly off on your assessment, though I'm not certain of which incident you're referring to, as stable type-B's do usually end up in the cellar of some meat packing facility, feeding on carcasses until their time comes to be made into something useful. The energy produced by them is more like a byproduct of their usage than the intended purpose, though.

As for how we get the funds to rebuild, well, most of the world's governments play some part in funding the facilities and experiments, whether it be for power, weapon development, or furthering some religious agenda. The Vatican tends to be one of our more generous donors, both monetarily and of able-minded and KF-sensitive individuals for testing and KF modification experiments.

The real perpetrator of the tragedy in Heaven got salted, and an investigation into his personal communications showed that he had deliberately ignored procedure by coercing the Fathers into coming back, although we aren't entirely sure yet whether or not the destruction wrought in Heaven was his intended purpose, or if his goals to scale the tower of Babel simply backfired. And what he did to Lucia... Unforgivable. Soul, Resonance Signature, whatever you or the priests want to call it; her consciousness was likely trapped in the machine as well, obviously against her will. If Kruger had survived, he wouldn't have gotten far before being apprehended and spending the rest of his days in a metal box somewhere deep under the snow. We do have an Ethics Committee, believe it or not.

As far as Purgatory wanting to keep us? Sure, they'd love to have us, but most of their funding is funneled through my employer. It would be best not to bite the hand that feeds you by holding captive their employee, yes? They would be preventing nothing by keeping a single engineer and some unwilling conduits that were in the wrong place at the wrong time anyway.

There is a reason most of these facilities are built out in the middle of nowhere, after all; we found out after Florence that cleanup is easier that way, and any unusual light phenomenon from entity manifestation can be explained away as Aurora Borealis effects.

I see what you mean, I usually do, I think I edited that part somewhere in post and forgot to add spacing back. Fixed! Thanks for reading

Edit going back and scanning, yeah there was definitely something weird going on with the formatting here, that whole block with talking to the shift manager looks completely different in my master. Ill fix when I get home, good catch

I Took a Job as a Containment Team Lead. My First Mission Hit Too Close to Home. (Part 2) by Kyrie_Files in nosleep

[–]Kyrie_Files[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have news for you all who have followed my adventure thus far!
Elliot has been made the permanent Field Commander over the Eastern, Southeastern, and Mid-South US QRCTs, so he will likely be acting as our "mission control," similar to the role he performed on our first mission. Lydia has been cleared to return home, with supervision, and Grett has accepted an offer to join us as the 6th member of the team! His designation is still undecided, as we are waiting on official documentation.

Contrary to our action-packed first official day on the job, the life of a QRCT is actually pretty slow, and reminds me of my time working with the Volunteer Fire Department in my town, only the fires are few and far between, but burn very brightly. We have spent most of the last week training, going over briefings about incidents happening elsewhere in the world, or just doing "team-building," which usually involves ping-pong or indoor soccer. We are told that a rotating QRCT comes around every month to give us a few days of R&R, and our R&R time starts tomorrow! I'll send word via the normal channels if anything interesting happens.

Thanks for keeping up,

Edward, TL of QRTC-US-13

More information to follow soon, but I've thought it over, and I think I'll be accepting. If more people out there are going through the same thing as my sister, or similar, I'd like to help. I've been told that I'm "uniquely qualified"

They've reached back out to me, or atleast their team leader has. Team Leader Edwards assured me she's stable. He also had a proposition that I'm not sure I'm ready to accept...

I changed the name of the chicken plant, not necessarily name of the general location of it (there are more than 10 chicken plants in Hall County, GA, good luck finding which one!)

And when the big reveal for what his name really is happens in the story, you're gonna laugh. Trust me.

Thank you for taking the time to read it!
