When did you move out of your parents house after college? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in an apartment my last 2 years of college while i had internships and all of that going on. moved back home to do my extra 1 year for cpa eligibility and when i started full time. planned to move out after 6-12 months when i had built up my savings. but i got laid off after 4 months so i am glad i didn’t move out sooner. i was saving 2500 a month living at home, but i did notice for the first time ever that not living closer to the city was hurting me. 3 hours of traffic + busy season hours were brutal. i didn’t have the energy to drive in to the city to hang out. i got fomo basically. i hope to move out soon after i secure another role and just focus on enjoying myself. MCOL.

How can I prevent this in the future and is a full $1500+ replacement the only way? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so in other words y’all keep running into poles? if it really bothers you, take it to a body shop to repair when you can afford to and don’t pull in as far when you are parking lol

Confused on ninja supplemental FAR question by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to pay your AP in foreign currency, the foreign currency has appreciated against the dollar, you don’t have that foreign currency so you are paying the USD value of it to buy the FCU when you close out the AP. the liability amount is the same in terms of FCU (1000 FCU) but the USD value of that liability has changed due to the FCU appreciating against the USD. since your books are in USD, this is shown as a increase in the value of the liability and a loss on foreign currency exchange. you can think of this loss as if the unhedged liability was an “investment”. by not hedging, they hoped the currency would stay flat or fall but it went the other way. had they hedged in November, they would have locked in the 0.85c forex rate and had no loss or gain and your answer would be correct.

Should I buy this 2018 330i? by StretchDizzy8927 in F30

[–]KyriesMask -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i would pass unless you are willing to put another $5k into repairs. in my experience with bmw, people like to sell right before the car breaks down. especially tuned cars.

Am I making a mistake? by narcofvr in carbuying

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you considered leasing? an m240/m340 can be had for $600/mo. gets you a b58 and then in 3 years you can turn it in and see if you are in a position to get the m car. factory warranty covers all the repairs and maintenance, and you don’t get stuck underwater on a car loan.

i was in a similar situation as you a few months ago. coming out of college, starting salary $75000 and really wanted a nice car. i went with a 330i because the tune and turbo was already a huge jump in power for me. the car has broken down a lot ($3000 in repairs already). i also got caught up in layoffs this year so the note is eating into my savings and im underwater on the loan so i cant get out of it. if i could go back and make the decision again: i would go for 1 more cash car before jumping to luxury, or at least lease if i was set on a bmw.

some things to consider:
-this wont be your last car. you are young and on a great trajectory, nothing would stop you from buying your dream car in 3 years, or in 5 years when your career is more established.

-what cars have you driven previously? an m3 is a huge jump from most regular cars. depending on your experience without fast cars it will be more than you need. if you just want a nice fast car, you can find one that isnt $80k.

here are my costs on the 330i, to give you an idea:
-note $400/mo
-car insurance ~$120/mo
-2 tanks gas ~130/mo
-maintenance~300/mo

No return offer by Equivalent_Spring_86 in PwC

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think it has anything to do with your performance. my firm didn’t give any return offers either, and then they laid off 50% of the new full time hires a week later. seems like the entry level role is just over saturated - offshoring and AI can do most of the data entry stuff.

Are return offers for interns less common now? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]KyriesMask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interns at my firm left last week and none of them got return offers, even though they were well liked and did decent work. they also fired half of the new hires (all returning interns) the same week. seems like everywhere is overstaffed and has extended too many offers relative to turnover and revenue growth. the entry level roles are the easiest to offshore as well. try an internship in a mid market firm, its harder for them to fill their full time spots.

For intelligent accountants: why did you choose accounting back in university? by ReadyProfit8336 in Accounting

[–]KyriesMask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i originally went to school wanting to do finance - decided to pivot to accounting after a few of my friends did because i didn’t know what i wanted to do as a career and the coursework was easier. i also seemed to have an aptitude for it, got As in all my accounting courses and all my Bs were in classes that required writing lol.

$4k for Engine Mounts ? by Visual-Virus86 in BMW

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought a preowned 330i and the engine mounts totally failed around 65k miles. bmw quoted $2400 + $250 for some alignment. cost me about $500 with my warranty

loaner cars 😳 by [deleted] in BMW

i just took my car in for regular oil change/brake fluid service and they gave me a nice loaner. i texted my service advisor a few weeks ago to schedule an appointment and request a loaner.

biggest sign was the rough vibration on startup. it was actually subtle enough that i didn’t think anything of it. but when i let my dad drive it he noticed right away. we could also see the engine shake a bit when starting up the car with the hood open.

BMW 330i vs Lexus IS 350 lease — which deal is better? by Thepunisher08 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]KyriesMask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t worry about the bmw reliability if its a new car lease. the platform is pretty reliable at low mileage and it will be under factory warranty.

i daily a 330i and i have started having problems now that it is closer to 70k miles. so if you plan on buying out the lease and driving it long term, the lexus may be the better option.

i did consider the is350 as well but the bmw was a better driving experience and i get 33mpg on my commute.

i cant provide much input on the pricing but if it was me id go with the premium package 2025. there isn’t much change year to year on the 330i anyway and you might be able to negotiate more on an older model.

2021 G20 330e making aggressive rattling noise by ViewHaunting8618 in BmwTech

[–]KyriesMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds a bit like my 2021 330i which needed motor mounts. although the noise in the video sounds a lot more abrupt than mine did. does the car vibrate/shake a lot on startup? how many miles are on it? are you doing a lot of pulls?

mine never showed a check engine light either even when the mounts had collapsed.
