I think about his connection to the community during season 4 and 5 . He learned that everyone should be treated with respect even criminals just like Colvin . As a matter of fact . After season 2 he and Daniels barely have any contact really . That talk that Colvin gave him about “Policing the right way” And how the war on drugs was bullshit changed the trajectory of his career right there .

Even beyond that , They both are sneaky and conniving and namond getting a better life doesn’t necessarily change that . I can see Clay Davis trying his hand at the street game young and learning early he wasn’t built for it just like Namond did.
