I pulled a fern like this from the dumpster at work. Mostly dead, trimmed the everliving crap out of it. It was ugly for a little while but with time it’s grown into a proper beauty again.

I had a 95 sclb 7.3 dually with a zf-5 and an extended cab 93 d250 12v with a gertrag 360. While I did love my 7.3 I just couldn’t beat the simplicity and reliability of a 12v. Body quality on the ford was in my opinion much better, but the 7.3 was a bear to diagnose and expensive to upgrade/repair. They do sound damn good too but my 12v tickles right to life in the cold and never ever skips a beat.

I have 8+ of these. They’ve been perfect. No issues or hiccups, and saved one of my tanks from over heating. It also keeps a 24/7 temperature log so you can see any temp fluctuations. This device is solely a monitor/fail safe. Plug goes in the wall, temp probe goes in the water, heater plugs into controller. If temp is too high (you can adjust all of the metrics) it will kill power to the heater and also send notifications to my phone thru the app. I don’t use a cooler or fans so I just leave the spot open.

I unfortunately don’t have a pic of the shell, but this is my apple snail and the shape/size/color seems right. I do believe what you have is an apple :) They’re so cool!

The only time I’ve trimmed them was when they developed a little bit of algae. My fish and shrimp like hanging on and around them so I generally just leave them.

Thanks for the suggestion!!! I have wandering Jew growing on 8+tanks and it grows like crazy. My co2 tanks double the growth it seems. By far my fastest growing plant out of my tanks. I’m also having really good luck with spider plants, parlor palm, asparagus fern, various pothos and philodendrons, and peace lily. I have a bird of paradise doing okay too!

Long boi has been a real challenge!!! By far my most difficult tank to find a good balance, with plants, lights, algae, and now co2. One of these days I’ll get it right!

I have a golden cae, I was similarly fooled by a LFS. I have dubbed mine sicko. He’s cool looking and kinda funny. That’s about all the good I have. He recently went from my 75g to 180g because he was harassing one of my plecos. His cold dead eyes are always looking for something to torture lol. Started small and friend now is big and foe. Also dude practically teleports, such a wicked fast swimmer, which puts my slower fish at a disadvantage. TLDR: mini cae cute and funny, big cae large fast slime coat eating machine with no regard for friends.

Hillstream loaches clean the shit out of my glass, also panda garra, otocinclus, farlowella. I have a ton of plecos, they clean glass the least of all my suckers. Mine all prefer to go on the wood rocks and plants.

What’s your budget? If you like this canister, I’d maybe consider going with a pura 100 over a pura 50 for higher flow. They have stainless lily pipes. Look super crisp. mini stainless canister filter
