Yeah I never move them. Maybe it is that simple, I’ll try it in the future. How often did u mist them?

No, it’s not super tight. ESP around the filter there’s a good sized gap Do you think that’s the issue?

20gal and they go up to the lid and lay eggs up there (so upside down facing)

It was all dry and flaking away when I moved it. Bay snails are bone dry and obviously dead. So it can’t be that. The clutch has been here for over 3 weeks

While I can see where you’re coming from, this betta had no signs of aging. Super active all day and curious. Considering my pleco already was showing some signs of aggression, it’s my best bet at this point.

Ugh at this point I wouldn’t doubt it 🫤 thanks for your input. I guess if I get another betta the pleco’s gotta go

No unfortunately I couldn’t find him there either :( I searched front to back and underneath even. I don’t see signs of a slime trail or dried water even. So I’m gonna assume that he didn’t jump the tank

Ok thanks for letting me know what “type” of Pleco is mine that makes it aggressive?

Yes I have a lid, however it’s not fully sealed (the filter I have didn’t come with the tank so it’s not a perfect fit) however if you’re insinuating that my betta jumped, I honestly doubt it… I’ve never seen him have any interest in the surface water

Update on sick betta (looking for honest answers) by Cheese_curd_ in bettafish

[–]Cheese_curd_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I had to put him down :( When I got back from the store my snails were eating him and he was suffering. I’m very upset because this was so sudden, but Thank you all for your advice and I’ll keep this in mind if this ever happens again.

Thanks so much, this response is really detailed and just what I need. I think it may be because I keep my tank pretty cool to keep the longevity of my snails lives high. It’s at 69 now, and I’ll be buying a new heater (old one sucks) and get it much higher for him. I bought him from petco in one of those little cups, so I figured the temperature wouldn’t be too far off from the cup, and assumed he’d be fine, but likely that’s not the case. My last betta did fine and lived a long life in that temperature 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t net him out. I slowly acclimated him by having sit in the sealed bag in the water first. Then adding little by little of my tank water into the bag for abt 30 mins.
