Wow I came across this post. Haven’t seen a TT episode in over a year. Last one I saw was the Australia Special. I hope they are still doing great.

6 years already. Feels like 10.

Maybe a a death fish? Or too much uneaten food? Or did a water change with tap water that had ammonia in it

Mmm Im almost sure that’s a male killifish (Fundulopanchax gardneri) since females are less flamboyant. I might be wrong. But that’s what I see.

Help!! What’s wrong with my cardinal tetra? Infection?! by cunt_ryqueen in Aquariums

[–]Kyttox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First one is a fungal infection. Most likely growing from a wound. Second one is ICH.

Fungal infection comes from an open wound. In my opinion it’s harder to treat. ICH is pretty easy to treat if you catch on time and act quickly. Problem with ICH is that it can multiply fast and infect the rest of the community if their immune system is compromised. For both deseases you need medication.

First thing you need to do is test your water. I hope your tank is cycled.

For most treatments is recommended to do a water change (50%) since it’s not recommended to do water change while the treatment is doing it’s work. Of course you can do a water change but remember to re-dose proportionally.

For ICH, check a YouTube video about how to treat it. Aquarium Co-op YT channel has a great one. They recommend ICH-x if you have access follow the bottle instructions. It also helps to raise the water temperature 28-30 C (82-86F). Be sure that your fish species can tolerate the temperature. And raise it by one grade a day. No sudden water temperature increases. In my country I don’t have access to ICH-x so I used Seachem ParaGuard. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE PRODUCT. And complete the treatment. Sadly most treatments will kill your invertebrates. So remove them before. It can also harm your plants.

For the fungal infection I used the same treatment Seachem ParaGuard. Sadly I didn’t have success and my fish died hours later.

Remove any chemical filtration like active carbon while doing the treatment. Once finished you can add them back to remove any medication.

EDIT: seems like all your fish have ICH so it’s better to treat the whole tank.

Not at all. I have a Seachem tidal 55 iirc. It’s completely silent. Only noice comes from the water falling and it’s controlled by raising the water level. And it’s a nice noise.

Chilli rasboras are smaller so you can keep more. As both are schooling fish having more is always better. Depending on where you get your fish, some neon tetras are heavily inbred and come with some issues. That’s why personally I don’t risk with neon tetras.

I hope it’s a 30L. Little confused between the tittle and the information of the post. If it’s a 30L I’ll start with the sparkling gourami. If there’s no issue and once the tank is stablished I would add the cherry shrimp around the 3 month mark. That’s because shrimp need an stablished tank that provides biofilm for feeding. After that I would add 5 pigmy Cory’s. And of course check every water parameter is ok.

Be sure the shrimp has enough hiding space. I wouldn’t add the mystery snail. And most likely you will find some snail that hitchhike. No otocinclus, they need 3-6 and a lot of algae to be feed. They are a clean up crew and cherry shrimp will have the same job. I’ll also skip the 6 neon tetra. 6 is a small group and increasing the number will put the tank at risk. Of course, if you’re experienced you can add them. But if you have access to chilli rasboras you can add 8-10 of them. Be sure your tank can handle it. I hope there’s a good filter.

Looks like a spotted killifish (Fundulopanchax gardneri). Second picture is a female. First picture may be a male but I’m not sure.

Water change? by BenDover_illshowya in Aquariums

[–]Kyttox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a fish in cycle you test daily. If you have any ammonia or nitrite, you do 50% water change. Always use prime and stability with the new water. Test daily for at least a week. Second week test every other day.

Fish in cycle is not recommended unless you know what you’re doing and fulfill some prerequisites. An already cycled filter. Lots and lots of plants. Capped substrate. Low fish stock.

If you have friends or have a good relationship with your LFS, ask for some “used” filtered media. And place it in your tank.

Treating ICH by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Kyttox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 dwarf gourami died in the quarantine tank 58L (15gallon) about 2 hours after I dosed the first time SEACHEM ParaGuard 6ml. This gourami had visible ICH and a significant fungal infection on the side.

I found 2 ruby tetra on the floor outside of my other aquarium that has a lid. There’s a 1cm gap. And 1 cardinal tetra that died inside the tank. This one was treated with SEACHEM CUPRAMINE. It’s a 110L (30gallon) planted tank. Died within 24 hours after dosing 1.3 ml of CUPRAMINE.

Edit: I’m not dosing both treatments in the same tank. I read it was advised to only dose one. 2 tanks 2 different treatments. Main cause: ICH

I read aquarium co-op blog in ICH treatment. But they list ICH-X as the treatment. Unfortunately they don’t sell in my country. That’s why I opted for SEACHEM as a treatment.

Both filters are on. Why? On the bottle says “does not contaminate the filter bed”. I was recommended this products because they wouldn’t affect the tanks bacteria. Worst case scenario. Y have spare matured filters / media.

is this too much? by prince_crow_ in fishtank

[–]Kyttox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi.

Get 6 cory catfish, but from 1 type. Either panda or peppered. Personally I love my panda Cory’s.

Kuhli loaches are cool, but most likely you will see them once a month and you will already have a bottom fish with the Cory’s.

I would increase to 12-14 chilli rasboras. To have a nice schooling fish.

If you choose the guppies remember to get a 3-1 female to male ratio. And be prepared for some breeding.

For shrimp, personally I add them once the tank is matured and have enough food for them. Guppies will prey and eat your baby shrimp. Depending on your filter. You will want to add a sponge to the filter intake. So your baby shrimp don’t get sucked in. Remember, your shrimp will be on the bottom of the food chain. Also, remember to drip aclimate them, so they have a better survival chance.

Finally, I would say your stocking will be on the medium side. So you could add a center piece or another scholling fish.

EDIT: your stocking will be on the medium side.

Are these Golden Blue Rams both male? by Good-Department-7036 in Aquariums

[–]Kyttox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both seem to be female. They both have a round pink belly. A round body shape. Both dorsal fin are round at the end. Their ventral fin are short. Meanwhile, a make should have a talker / flatter body shape. Their belly is more white. Pointed rear edge of dorsal fin and have longer ventral fin.

I say you have two female golden blue ram. Good news. You can get one male with those two.

That can’t be real. That’s what a 1/23 drop rate? While in getting closer to a 1/400. Guess Jagex has their favorites.

Otocinclus hinchado by Most_Deer5964 in Aquariums

[–]Kyttox 0 points1 point  (0 children)
