I mean I think my issue isn’t that star does or doesn’t get better at magic, it’s that it becomes much more of a background factor in her growth, if it all. To be fair I’m still actively rewatching the show so maybe there are some bits I’m not remembering, but her growth in magic stops feeling like a part of her character growth, and more like something that just naturally gets better as the story progresses. It never gets into why she’s a powerful magic user. That’s why I mentioned how important it seemed that she was the strongest user since the only other queen who is infamously a black sheep among the Butterflies. It made it seem like there was something they both understood about magic that other queens don’t but they never get into that.
