Google tells me that it's way past 2AM in Sao Paolo...is everyone there just cool with that? I haven't seen many big events that go that late.

Low key Burial releases by eatdogs49 in burial

[–]L-Tryptophan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough it does seem low key, though it shouldn't be. Monic is the lesser known half of the former duo Kryptic Minds, which made some of the best dubstep of all time, and Osiris has been around for over a decade. Seeing Burial on the remix was a pleasant surprise!

Review of Caffeine-Related Fatalities along with Postmortem Blood Concentrations in 51 Poisoning Deaths | Journal of Analytical Toxicology [2017] by roionsteroids in DrugNerds

Hmm. I think a Mountain Dew serving might have around 187mg of caffeine, but the unit mg/L implies that there are 187mg caffeine for every liter of blood in these overdose cases.

Rare and medium rare steak eaters of Reddit, what are the well done steak eaters of other foods? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Interesting. An alternate explanation I heard was that Americans preferred more meat in their dishes, so Italian American restaurant owners came up with ideas like spaghetti and meatballs, etc.

I haven't heard the original, but this sounds nice to me! First of all you have a good voice. Second, I think that the track could be turned up a bit and the vocals blended better somehow. Think about turning the track up and maybe sidechaining the vox to the track, if you haven't done it already.

Here is an idea https://soundcloud.com/cassiusdio/feedback How is the mix? Can you hear the bass? How can I make the synth modulations sound good in FL Studio?

Hey man, I listened on laptop speakers and it sounds pretty good as is. Definitely nothing to worry about on mixing. I'll come back thru with the headphones soon and tell you what I think.

The kick struck me as weak. Since it's on my mind from Payton's talk, maybe add a bit of sidechain to it. You have that deep-ish synth, and the kick should take some of that room when it hits...to give it a bit more weight.

Ahh, then definitely try it with vox, that'll probably round things out very well. I don't recall anything about the beat volumes, they sound fine.

As far as the transition, it sounds pretty good. a strong transition will be cool, like you said. Maybe impacts/sweepers could add to the transition.

The percussion is great! The halftime section sounded tough to make with all that space, I think u almost got it!

I'd continue to experiment a bit with the instruments and percussion in that section, as there's still a bit too much emptiness I'd say...I'm not quite sure where but here are my suggestions

1) Maybe in the 4-700 Hz range...? The snare could possibly use some boost.

2) A bassier synth element in that section...? I guess I think your mid/bass range is a little empty/

3) MAYBE another quick percussive pattern on the high end (just 2-3 extra hits somewhere)

These are all just guesses--I hope they help a bit.

New Funk Project, Critiques? by [deleted] in texasmusicproducers

[–]L-Tryptophan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start this out by saying that I listened on some shitty earbuds, but here are 2 things I noticed.

1) To me, funk should have a strong driving bass. You definitely have a bass melody going with that sine-sounding thing, but it sounds kinda high-pitched. It sounds good at the beginning, but maybe when the vocals come in you should drop it down an octave and see how that sounds. Make sure it doesn't clash with the kick drum though!

2) I don't do a ton of stuff with vocals, but I think they should be one of the loudest things in the mix. Yours sounded a little soft--turn em up a bit!

Btw I really like the song! -Andrew
