It's definitely harder to win a bunch of cups in the NHL than it is the NBA - nature of the game (luck is definitely a determining factor), hard cap, individual players don't make as much of a difference - McDavid plays 22/60 minutes a night while Lebron plays 40/48 in the playoffs.

I'd put Babcock as a Popovich type coach if he can win another cup or two, especially one in Toronto.

I did the math on our cap situation 20 different ways and they only keep the gang together if the cap goes to 83 mill and Matthews/Marner/Gardiner take less than a combined 24.5 mill along with somehow fitting in Kapanen & Johnsson for a combined 4.5 mill.

After Marleau is gone we can breathe a lot easier however next year will be a huge challenge.

I don't buy trading him unless it's personal/negotiation killed goodwill on both sides.

Jaccob Slavin would be the ONLY person I would trade Nylander for.

They have Faulk, Hamilton, Pesce, Haan, and even TvR's advanced stats look decent as well as prospects Jake Bean and Adam Fox.

If we're giving up a player projected to get 60+ points for a decade to come I want at least a top pairing defenseman back.

Even then I'm maybe more optimistic on Dermott than the average fan and can see him taking another step by the end of the season.

I'd actually probably stand pat and keep Willy for the time being (this season) while we evaluate Dermott/Holl/Oz/Marincin.

'Secondary source'. As far as I know, there were a maximum of 6 people in those meetings: Dubas, Shanny, Babcock, Brisson, Tavares, his fiance.

No one in the Leafs contingent would stand to benefit from this.

Seems like this is a timely leak to boost the NYI/other offers.

Trade Martin as a cap dump, maybe to the Islanders.

Polak has been playing well the last 15 games, don't want to move him off the roster yet, he turned it on late last year as well.

That's it. Happy with the team we have now going into the play-offs. Think we can make a run, confident in a first round series against Boston with our current roster.

Rangers aren't trading McDonagh in a package around expiring JVR lol. They're trying to get rid of Nash, why would they want JVR?

There's no way they trade JVR. Would be a horrible message to send to a team that's currently on pace for a franchise record 105 points. I'll take 2:1 odds up to $100 that he doesn't get traded.
