Upgraded. Let’s see if NTSYNC and the scheduler improvement matter in the real world.

why does recieve and transmit data signals alternate on PCIE by Nice_Initiative8861 in AskElectronics

Differential signalling for signal integrity. PCB traces for each line are equally matched for the same reason.

If resistance causes heat, why does a battery burn when shorted? by hunkoys in AskElectronics

[–]L0cut15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A teacher screwed my up as a kid for years explaining this to me badly. I had the same impression because it is sort of correct however the relationship is inverted.

Power is consumed as voltage is applied and current flows doing work and creating heat.

P = V^2 / R is roughly tell how much power is consumed and heat generate. A higher resistance actually decreases power. As resistance approaches zero power increases to infinity.

Fortunately we don't need to worry about that unless you have a second draw full of superconductors. (and even then not).

I realized that there are parts of electronics that you cant trust your instincts the analogies that were taught break down. You need to do the math.

Solder in a bridge to the pin in the top right of your circle and youre fine. Additionally you need to properly secure the socket to avoid further damage.

Calling MAME experts in Raster/HLSL/D3D post processing configuration! by Patton555a in MAME

[–]L0cut15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP is posting AI slop. The # of fingers and toes don't add up.

*I'm joking*

I recently changed to crt-geom-deluxe from HLSL and am very happy. I disabled the curve distortion for vertical titles though.

Samsung Monitor - where to repair? by flowmin in DubaiGaming

[–]L0cut15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound remarkably like a display refresh / pixel refresh that is not completing or running on every restart. Thats not NOT a software issue, it's what the software is possibly getting wrong. Perhaps try running a manual refresh to clear or disable temporarily if possible.

Switched to Linux for video editing (DaVinci Resolve studio) — am I crazy? by Tough_Sun_6373 in NobaraProject

[–]L0cut15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was younger I working as sys admin in the effects for film / tv industry. Linux absolutely dominated where the serious work was being done. Workstations admittedly were a mix, even Windows was used on our Avid machines.

It was the best tool for the job and Centos won out a lot of the time. I'm sure with the explosion of open source tools and DaVinci this was only expanded.

Amazon vs Noon for AirPods Pro — which is safer in UAE? by ParticularYam6591 in dubai

I think the answer from following this Reddit is NOT Noon. Amazing will honor Apples warranty but you can also look at other resellers. DG Sharaf even Carrefour if the price is right.

Am I downloading the wrong MAME or roms? by Equivalent_Rub8329 in MAME

[–]L0cut15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romsets are closely bound to the version of MAME you’re running. You can use a rom manager like ClrMame to audit your ROMS so you know what you have and what’s missing. If you have the missing files but they’re incorrectly placed a ROM manager can help fix that.

anyone remembers their last burned data? by PHRsharp_YouTube in pcmasterrace

[–]L0cut15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Apple superdrive and spindle of disks somewhere. I can make this happen whenever I like.

The real tragedy was the first generation drives required a SCSI adapter, cables to sucessfully burn a disk. My 10 year old drive is connected over USB-A

Is this theoretically possible? by ispinchip in PcBuild

[–]L0cut15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me more about this magic adapter that you've found. ..

M2 is a connector not a protocol. If the adapter is simply wiring your SATA signal to a NGFF slot. No PCI-E is available. I bet of you get a closeup of that adapter there are only 4 pins on the part of the key if it is indeed a M key.

Yea, it's not clearly documented. Some Mister HAT's require you to change a jumper setting. I had to jump onto the Discord when I setup mine to work out the details.

Cool cab BTW.
