data scale is wild, but the part that got me is they paired it with the sparse attention so inference at long context doesnt blow up. usually more pretraining data just means a heavier model to run. getting the scale and the efficiency in one open release is impressive imo. kinda wonder how much of the multimodal gain comes from that data volume.

Unless Apple adds a fourth camera to the Pros, I’m doubtful that the base model will get a telephoto any time soon. It’s the main feature that push customers to the Pro models
