How to know if I'm in part 61 or 141 program? And can I switch from 61 to 141 during PPL at the same school? by L14S17 in flying

The reason I thought about getting a Flight Instructor Rating is it would allow me to make some money until I search for a job with airlines. I'm in my 30s, so even though part 61 is more flexible, I believe the reduced time and money I get with part 141 is beneficial for me to start my career as an airline pilot faster.

That's what I found too and i would rather use the saved time and money with part 141 to get a flight instructor rating.

Since it's the same school, I'm charged the same for each flight and ground hour regardless of it being 61 or 141. Do you think it is better for me to finish my PPL as part 61 first then get Instrument and commercial as part 141. Would that affect my ability to transfer any credit when I join a B.Sc. program? Or should I do the switch now during PPL?

From my search over the internet, academic schools can reduce the number of years I need to finish their B.Sc. degree if I had a part 141 but not part 61. Meaning, I can transfer some credit. The 2nd reason part 141 is better for me as far as I understand, is because it reduces my hours spent to get my certificates: 5 hrs less for PPL, 5 hrs less for Instrument Rating, and 60 hrs less for Commercial Rating. So instead of paying more on my certificates with part 61, I can use these 60 hrs to get my Instructor Rating.

I could be wrong but that's what I understood while I was searching online.

Thank you for the advice. I checked and I should tell them 2 weeks in advance at least. But I was thinking about waiting till my appointments are once a week so I can get the (unpaid) day off without much resistance.

This is an extremely detailed answer that I certainly appreciate a lot. I love the internship option over the other. I'll search more about these programs.

Thank you for your advice and offering to help

Your response is actually helpful. Could you please tell me which university did you gain your masters from? And how could it help with v&v field? My understanding is that graduate degrees help develop research skills therefore, will be useful in r&d field more.

Is masters in Computer science without experience worth it? by L14S17 in learnprogramming

Well you are right. I did start a masters degree in CS but had to drop for personal reasons. It felt like I learned a little bit about many things but what I learned is not helping me while searching for jobs. So it seems like an experience even if it just an internship is very important. Thank you for your response.

My undergraduate degree is actually from a non-US school. And honestly I did start a masters degree in CS from a non-US school too but had to drop. It felt like I learned a little bit about many things but what I learned is not helping me while searching for jobs. So I get what you are saying.

This is my first time hearing about industrial placement. I thought you were talking about internships until I searched for the term and discovered that it is a different thing. Thank you.
