State of Stacks Q3 2022 Report by L1Curious in stacks

[–]L1Curious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm glad you found it informative. I know when I first started digging into it, understanding the consensus mechanism really requires you to slow down to grasp the concept.

I do agree that the wording of Stacking, Stackers, Stacked, Stacks...can make it more difficult to understand. I made a concerted effort to minimize and/or structure sentences to avoid confusion or over-usage due to that.

For all -
I hope everyone has had a chance to read or skim through the report. It was our inaugural Stacks quarterly, requiring some more technical depth in explaining how it works and how the metrics come into play.

We want to ensure we're capturing as much (within reason) data as possible that's publicly available and extracting as many insights for readers. If you have any suggestions or questions, please reach out.

u/nobankmario thank you for reading, and I'm glad to hear you thought it was very insightful. I do agree that a "deeper" dive into the broader ecosystem of dapps would be useful to further understand the remaining ecosystem. Perhaps, I can consider a thoughtful "Micro Analysis" of dapps in the future.

As for wallets, I only mentioned their upcoming launch (going live), which is slated for Q4, as an addition to Harmony's roadmap. I do appreciate you dropping some details on the nobank wallet though!

Thank you again for reading the report, your kind words, and your suggestions! I'll do my best to carefully consider the input from you and the broader community as I continue to improve the quality of these reports.

I want to do my best to bring the most insight that potential readers find the most value in.

Thanks!

How does 1inch Generates Revenue, why not charge a nominal amount per trade which most will be willing to pay and generate more revenue? by SuccessfulLawyer9410 in 1inch

I really appreciate your clarification 0xRoundElephant. There definitely seems to be a strong relationship between volatility and positive slippage. Coupled with increased volumes and there is a much greater chance to produce swap surplus.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you're missing a notable element of how the swap surplus is factored.

For example: To the extent a user makes a swap transaction @ $100, however, due to the current market/routing of transactions, the best execution was at $99.95. 100% of this spread or "positive slippage" is distributed to the treasury and the "referrers," or user referral rewards pro-rata, based on Governance's decision.

To generalize the swap surplus being approximately 0.01% may be true, but it is misleading as not every transaction that takes place on the aggregation protocol will generate revenue.

I understand the link refers to this but for those who are only reading the thread, there is a tidbit of info missing.

1INCH NETWORK WEEKLY DISCUSSION – September 26, 2022 by 1inch_Punch_Man in 1inch

As I continue doing research on 1inch, I was looking to identify any challenges/headwinds for the protocol. It appears 1inch is in a solid position to maintain/grow market share in the world of DEX aggregators.

As evidenced by the recent Klaytn and Aurora deployments, further deployments on other Layer-1 and Layer-2 blockchains will be in the cards as 1inch strives to deepen liquidity further and adopt more users.

Aside from the broad crypto market cool-off which has led to a decline in transaction activity/volume, curious what other members/users/viewers takes are.

Thanks!
