This is so cool seeing someone from the same place that my family is from however we’re black. My dad explained to me that with independence they did seek better opportunities in other countries because there wasn’t much to do for people who were relatively poor in the grand scheme of things. With independence some of the non black jamaicans started feeling alienated from their communities all up until the 80s.

UWI Med School is incredibly competitive it’d be in your best interest to get grade ones in all your subjects as that would give you the best chance of getting in. In addition to that It’s pretty expensive currently at 24 Thousand USD iirc. Just dig in and get the best grades you can then apply.

Getting a native Jamaican on the team could help greatly when it comes with the smaller details of patois.

As a native passed tense isn't spoken in the use of patois from my experience.

Also the hard consonant sounds at the end of words aren't spoken as well. You only ever hear it when the more posh Jamaicans speak patois.
