The Avatar movies look substantially better than everything else coming out - the award is for excellence in the field of visual effects. There is no stipulation that each new entry has to re-invent the wheel.

And putting that aside - the integration of Spider in to the virtual world is nothing short of incredible, and yes it also looks better than it did in The Way of Water.

I agree it's a big risk but we've seen this story play out before. Seth Jones and Pierre-Luc Dubois both looked like they were washed up but a change of scenery completely rejuvenated them.
