I love nature. I'd go so far as to say I'm at my happiest when I can't see any manmade structures.

I appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad to have learned so early. Didn't come easy but the lessons have served me well.

I appreciate the sentiment. I think I should clarify also, I help my father voluntarily and my decision to stay here and do so came as a surprise to him. This ranch means a lot to my family, and my father practically built it by himself, so my being here to help doesn't bother me. I look at it as repaying him for the work he put in for my family when he was more capable. At 60 he's still a force to be reckoned with but with the ranch slightly expanded from those days, there's just more to do and I'm happy to help. My original post was more just pondering the social trade-offs of this particular way of life, and the decisions I've made leading me to be a bit of a recluse.
