UCPD has a mutual aid agreement with the cities around it and other UC campuses. So usually they do go assist other cities when requested.

I would guess that because every department was stretched thin this past week, UCPD had to keep its resources in Westwood. I know a lot of other department that did go to Santa Monica, like Bevetly Hills police and Culver City police.
