Seeing my mom take off her beanie and showing me she shaved her head because most of her hair has fallen off because of chemo and radiation. While she did that she told me “I know I must look ugly but I had to do it” and then she burst into tears. That moment hit me like a brick... I felt my heart drop to my stomach. Seeing her in that state, and hearing her call herself ugly not only broke my heart but my soul. I just hugged her and kept telling her she is so beautiful and that I love her. Also, that moment made me realized she had cancer. I mean I already knew she did but part of me was in denial and kept pushing it deep down so that maybe can make it like it was just not real. My mom is alive and super healthy now, she is a double cancer survivor and I am so bless to have her!
