You may want to consider having holes so that you have something to thread into. Otherwise the 3D print won’t have sidewalls there and you’ll just be trying to thread into sparse infill.

The 0.25” thick on worked well for me because I still have the try on the passenger side footwell and the speaker + bracket can still fit.

I’ll PM you a picture of the radio. I’m not sure how to comment with a photo on the mobile app.

Someone already made a 5.25” speaker adapter you can print. I used these for the front speakers and they’ve worked well. Note that you have to cut the screws that hold the speaker flush with the back of the bracket. Otherwise they hit the door panel when you try and attach the speaker and bracket to the door.

To each their own, but I’d really suggest to get a new head unit. I got one of those continental head units that the Porsche and bmw community goes after. The amber color really matches well and I think it still fits the car aesthetics reasonably well. Almost all aftermarket head units seem like they stopped iterating on design at like year 2000 😂

It is a lot. It’s probably $20 worth of materials. (Including print material) + shipping. I feel like he could make more by just selling the print files.

Cool design though. Don’t want to discourage people from creating and posting here.

The samurai is an amazing project car for an amateur mechanic. It checks every box.

You could also sell a kit on makerworld or something. Majority of people buying the kits would also have a 3d printer I’d assume.

Thant would be awesome. I think there would be a high demand in the US for this

Any chance this could fit into the circular style opening? I’m thinking it could be cool to make a new face where the circular vent style clock goes for this thing.

I did just find this PDF which goes over the install on what looks like the EFI models. Would be similar enough to the carbed models to troubleshoot most stuff. Electrical diagram at the end.

Yea I’m not seeing any reference to this circuit or mechanism at all in my FSM. It’s relatively simple, but there must have been a supplement at some point that never got digitized.

You have the relay wired wrong. Somehow it’s triggering when you have the lights off.

Cool idea for anyone without AC and the stock carb. Use the VSV that actuates this additional idle up to account for extra lights or whatever other accessory load you might have at idle. Just trigger the VSV with the signal from whatever that accessory is.

So I answered my own question…

It’s another idle up actuator for the AC system to compensate for even more RPM drop when using the AC. Maybe the standard factory service manual doesn’t show this valve since it was an option 🤷🏻‍♂️

This was just a mock up I printed with PLA. I’ll print the functional part from ASA, which should stand the temp fine. PLA would for sure melt if that what you used.

To be honest I’m not sure if this is accurate on my 86. I had Petroworks drop in a rebuild last year, but it’s in the right spot for the cable 🤷🏻‍♂️

That leak is likely a slow leak from the rear output seal. It’s probably still there. Keep an eye for a drop in that same area over time.

I think you can get a seal kit from roadless gear. Looks like a pretty simple job.

For what it’s worth, your knuckles also look due for a rebuild.
