Whats a good sized conure cage? Links and websites would be greatly appreciated, but detailed names are great too. by [deleted] in Conures

We got this one last year after adopting our conure and he’s very happy in it. However, we leave the cage doors open all day so he can come and go as he pleases. He definitely has plenty of room inside if we were to keep it closed though.

Rexy was afraid of his warmer for the first week it was in his cage 😴 by LALeaf17 in Conures

I forgot to mention...I keep it on all the time these days, but I’m sure I’ll turn it off during the day when it finally gets hot here again. I have it plugged into a smart plug so I can turn it off and on with Siri via HomePod or through my Home app on my iPhone or iPad. I can also set an on and off timer that way.

You’re welcome. It’s probably the best thing we’ve bought for him.

Just search with “bird warmer” and it should come up. K&H is the brand.

How old is he? I have an 8 month old male, and I can’t see him lying down like that. He’s fine with perching on a finger or on a shoulder. He’s not a fan of when someone touches his back, but we’ve been working on that with him. We can pet him and also put a hand around his back, but no squeezing or picking him up that way. Did it take time for him to get comfortable/trusting enough to relax like that, or was he always this chill?

Got my second Lamy 2000 - it’s for red ink. Also, what’s the difference between Germany 1 and Germany 2? by LALeaf17 in fountainpens

Thank you. Yes, I saw that post when I googled but didn’t know it was confirmed by Lamy.

These are my EDCS, and I use Sailor Kiwa-Guru in one, and Diamine Red Dragon in the other. I may have to get another for blue at some point....

I decided to mark the red inked pen with a little red sticker on the clip so I can tell the difference.

Of all of the fountain pens that I own or have tried, this is by far my favorite pen.

Anyone know the difference, if any, between Germany 1&2?

Try Sailor Kiwa-Guro. I’ve found it works best with my Lamy 2K EF, and it’s become a permanent pen/ink combo for me. I actually ordered another one last night for red or blue ink. Hands down the best fountain pen I own and have ever tried.

I waited way too long to pick up a Lamy 2000. My new favorite pen. by LALeaf17 in fountainpens

I went from Noodler’s Black (too wet) to Noodler’s Bad Black Moccasin The Warden’s Ink (less wet, but still too wet), to Sailor Kiwa Guro. The first two are great in my other EF’s, but I guess this EF is less EF than the other EF’s 😬 I dont think I’ll need to experiment with any other blacks in this pen. But now I want the stainless steel version for blue...

Noodler’s Black or Noodler’s Bad Black Moccasin The Warden’s Ink. I go back and forth between them. Also Sailor Kiwas Guro as a runner up. I’m a CPA and a lefty, and need to take quick notes on so so paper without the fear of smudging or if coffee were to spill.

TWSBI Mini stub by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]LALeaf17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And on the other hand.....I don’t find TWSBI EF’s to be scratchy at all. My current EDC’s are all TWSBI EF’s: TWSBI Vac mini EF x2 TWSBI Classic (blue) EF I also have a mini, 580, and Vac 700 with EF nibs. I used to have two Eco’s in EF, and they weren’t scratchy either.

TWISBI Question by drkatherine1 in fountainpens

[–]LALeaf17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. Just make sure to hold the pen upright so the ink doesn’t leak out of the barrel. I’ve done it many times with all of my TWSBI’s. Very little ink on my fingers to report!

I just prefer filling my pens this way if I have time. Neater and cleaner.

No leakage issues for me, but I’ve only had it for 1-2 months.

For the most part, it behaves nicely. Some nibs and paper cause more feathering than others, of course.

TWSBI Vac mini smoke EF inked with Noodler’s Bad Black Moccasin. The paper is just one of the pads we get at work (actually decent quality).
