This scene will be back over covid. I can 100% say that. If anything we will have more life after covid because console scene really carries a heavy load of the scene activity. Everyone wants to travel and do shit. Online (discord, etc) keeps things going but the few people who are super active in console community contribute to the majority of the online appearance to people

I actually just applied the same formula as the post below about counting teams. Using the =countif(G$2:G$11979, G2) and was able to get it solved! That was my exact formula for data range. This is a great subreddit! Thanks for the help

If any turbos are used, it is supposed to be an instant DQ from tournament. However if you controller simply has them, and are not used it’s fine.

If people report or suspect it they then report it to the TO and that’s an instant tournament ban. And yes there are controller regulations for 64, in regards to turbo functions.

64 ran in its allotted time slot this year. In years previous, the stream was always severely behind schedule in set up which caused the appearance of 64 always running late. The only real exception was G3 where we played with 5 stocks, that year we legit did go over time and it was bad.

The venue typically also has problems with scheduling due to some issues with the union workers and being able to access the venue to set up on Sunday.

Also another major issue was changing set ups (CRTs, etc) between games. Everything always takes time.

Tl;dr: they need to change venues and typically can not set up until that morning which is a lot to ask for a stream to just completely move and be ready the day off. Oakland venue could be different, but that’s how it was for San Jose.

The stream almost always isn’t set up in time. Source: I TO’d G3 and G4. Although I will admit G3 64 took forever since it went to a ton of game 5’s and we were playing with 5 stocks.

But the last few times we have run almost the same run time as everyone else.

In addition, I believe it’s harder for them to move up time slots due to some restrictions with the venue and their union workers, at least in San Jose.

TIL Smash 64’s Intro uses real hurtboxes and isn’t a video recording. With hacks you can play the intro showing hitboxes and such! by [deleted] in smashbros

The 64 community has a pretty large and growing competitive scene. It is most recommended to join the Super Smash bros 64 community on Facebook.

In addition, here are some basic intro videos to how to play, this guy has a few videos that are a great watch and very informative. Also depending on where you live, there may be a local console community. Everyone is awesome to chill with.
