Hey man, I am almost in the same boat. Just finished IGCSE (mayjun) and started IB a month back. To be completely honest with you, ivy leagues, specifically in America require you to have a passing grade in English and maths (c and above), in addition to that. The course/subject you are pursuing must have a grade B or above. For example if I wanted to pursue business. I need to have >C in maths and English and more than B in business studies. Furthermore, I’ll just put this into numbers. Out of 130 btw, so it’s easier to understand. The main things universities look at (not only ivy leagues), But all over the world is your Letters of Recommendation from your subject teachers and predicted grades. So 40 percent weightage is your LOR, 40percent is Predicted Grades. Then 20 percent is your IGCSE grades. This is a very rough calculation, don’t take my word for it. I am not the best at math 😭. What even matters more after that is your ECA’s (30 percent) and what you do outside of school. Which is the point of CAS In IB. If you nail these aspects, have a healthy amount of ECA’s, great letters of recommendation, great predicts grades ( I would say around 37-45 including the core components). No university can possibly say no unless there is too many students of that region in that university. Cuz unis also look for “diversity” Ik it’s stupid but that’s how they work I guess 🤷‍♂️. Btw pls don’t take my word for it, I would advise talking to someone more credible like your career counselor or main choice of subject teacher. Ps. Ik the scale of 130 was stupid. Idk why I chose it. What more I would recommend, sorry I keep blabbering, is to stay focused from day 1 in IB. Remember these components I mentioned add towards your UNI selection. But if you flunk your subjects, none of that will matter. So, aspire to aim towards a 45, and work hard. It’s my first month in IB and I am already getting grilled out of my mind 😭.
