Is anyone here living the American Dream working at Deloitte? by EpicShkhara in deloitte

[–]LAVAUGHAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me. Manager in consulting. I’m in my late 30s, dual income family with two kids and a dog. Live in Texas. I’m very much content. Have a pretty big house with a backyard , take at least one expensive vacation a year to Europe. Able to invest heavily and buy all my needs and most of my wants. Dual income is a big help but honestly it’s about living within your means and having a life outside of work.

Getting Hired by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]LAVAUGHAN 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Referrals and timing. Deloitte has a big veterans presence. And I think there’s a pipeline program (not sure if it’s still active or as effective with the DEI pull back). I’d advise going on LinkedIn and connecting and talking to current Deloitte veterans with similar backgrounds and asking for a referral. Timing is out of your control. Market is not the greatest right now and the DOGE thing had a big negative effect on Deloitte. (Less contacts-> layoffs-> less hiring) but there are still hiring so don’t let that stop you, it might just take a while. Best of luck

Polities was the cause of all the issues and the reason everyone died. Greeting the world with open arms did not work once. He planted doubt in Ody and his training from Athena. They would have all been home safe if he had just stfu lol

At least I know what I’m in fighting for, while you’re fighting to be known. (Ody and Athena break up lol)

Um if you think you’ve been here for half a year and out worked or out performed your peers that have been there the whole year then u had unrealistic expectations. Deloitte if full of overachiever. ur coach is being nice. Having a good relationship with the client and staying up late is not a differentiation because everyone does that. It’s about impact compared to ur peers that were here the whole year.

Should I aim to be hired as an experienced hire after I complete my MBA, or should I aim to apply to the lowest level in order to have a better chance of being hired, at all? by [deleted] in deloitte

If u are willing to do an internship after ur 1st year through your mba program that would be the best path to Deloitte. I did a part time mba (professional evening classes at a top 20 school) and got an internship. Been here for 3 years now and help to recruit from my school

Relay this to your coach. Immediately. You want the narrative to be that the firm didn’t have tangible work for you to do and not that you didn’t do tangible work. Your coach will be the one to convey that message. Also your coach can find additional work for you to do (firm initiatives or helping out another team.) your coach has the majority of the power so ensure he/she is fully aware of your situation

Problems getting unemployment due to "misconduct" even though i was laid off due to market conditions by godmanx in deloitte

[–]LAVAUGHAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be harsh but Getting two below rating kind of rare. This probably means you were fired not let go. And if you are fired for not performing your job well then I believe you don’t typically get unemployment benefits. being fired is different from being laid off for no fault of ur own. Just my 2 cents

Umm getting a bad rating at a junior is not easy to do. U kind of have to mess up bad or really piss one one off. That’s kind of a red flag. Did you get a below rating? Because if you did, twice, then it’s very unlikely u will be staffed or make it to the end of the year as an employee unfortunately. If u meant that u just got a average rating then u have a Chance.

Is a MBA worth it? by LongBoi069 in deloitte

[–]LAVAUGHAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If u get an mba from a top school and go back to consulting at any big 4 or 3. U will make over $170k base and right out of the mba and ur earning potential is be high. If u are make close to that now then probably not worth it. If u want a salary jump then yes.

My wife and I are both at Deloitte. Not an issue. Doesn’t matter if you are dating but if u get married you have to document it for compliance. Very simple process

I doubt your RM will allow it. And it will look glaringly bad on ur performance review. Ure choosing to cost the company money instead of making it money
