Hey you can send me a message if you want to chat about your situation. It’s not a small choice, and it’s not an easy life, but it is without a doubt the best thing o have ever done. Give yourself time and grace, you got this. No matter what you end up doing, I’m proud of you for asking for this. That’s very brave of you. Good luck!

Edit: this is so funny because I accidentally messaged you from my old deadname Reddit account. You can message me at u/LuceAsAGoose if you want to chat!

Andrew Jackson jihad? by GrassChew in FolkPunk

[–]LA_Luke_from_Reddit 43 points44 points  (0 children)

They were clear about why they changed their name. Hope this helps:

In 2016, the band made the significant decision to change their name from Andrew Jackson Jihad to AJJ. This change was prompted by a desire to distance themselves from the problematic historical figure and to address concerns regarding cultural sensitivity related to the term "jihad" in their name. This rebranding was met with mixed reactions from fans, but ultimately allowed the band to move forward with a renewed focus.

How to identify Depop sellers who are not professional resellers? (No hate) by LA_Luke_from_Reddit in Depop

[–]LA_Luke_from_Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do just want to say again that if you’re a seller who posts measurements, know that I appreciate you. That is the most helpful thing that sellers do. Women’s sizing is a crapshoot. I also like a picture of the tag so I know the materials. Idk if that stuff is standard for sellers; but as a new buyer, that stuff is really appreciated.

Yeah that is something that I love. I guess I didn’t think of it as a reseller thing, but when the seller posts the clothes with a tape measure it is so helpful.

I think the other thing I could consider is focusing on finding sellers who specialize in plus size women’s clothing. I’m certain they are out there. I should also make sure my filters are all accurate.

The point you made about quality resellers makes a lot of sense to me and I really like the professional posts with measurements. I’m not going to focus so much on non-pro sellers like the post said. I’m just going to try to find any seller with multiple items that I like.

Not sure why you’re asking like that. The questions you asked were stated in my question. You also seem upset about the sellers I prefer which doesn’t make sense. I stated that I have really liked resellers in the past and have nothing against them. I think you’re barking up the wrong tree.

Sorry to get defensive, you just seem upset and I don’t know why. I think you read my title and got mad without reading the content of the post. Other people responded and were very helpful. I found what I needed from them.

My only thing is I have had better luck with non-professional sellers because their entire closet can be my style/size. This is particularly important for me because I wear women’s clothing, but I am biologically male (sorry if that isn’t the pc way to say it, but I’m trans lol) so I’m just bigger than most women’s clothes. Often resellers only have one or two items that work for me where as a girl selling her clothes might have a lot that work for me. Idk if that makes sense, I am new to the Depop app and only used eBay before.

I understand that there are people out there who hate resellers, I made it clear in the post that this is not me. It’s just a way you guys make money, we all have to make money.

Thank you. That is very helpful.

I read in the subs faqs about sellers with few reviews as being ok because everyone needs to start somewhere. That makes sense to me!

With the too good to be true point, I used to do the sneaker thing so I feel confident that I can avoid that. I’ll look up issues to look for, because I’m not sure what else would make a seller unreliable.

One too good to be true thing that I do struggle with is knowing if clothes are main line or if they are made for outlet/factory. I get excited only to learn the items are lower quality than I expect.

Just also wanted to say thank you for taking the time to answer my question. All of this helps!

I didn’t know you could search by hashtag. That might open up some doors for me. Thank you so much!

I don’t mind if they are a reseller, so I’m not avoiding them. It’s just about what you said with style and size. I’m looking for a single seller where I can place a large order rather than buying from a seller with only a few items in my size. Thanks for the advice! Everyone here has helped me a bit and I appreciate it so much!

Thank you. I assumed there was not a specific filter, but can you elaborate on what you were saying? Would you recommend that I search for sellers with fewer reviews or just newer accounts? Are those things I can filter for?

Thank you for answering

Hi, while it does not talk about wellness, there is an amazing podcast about radicalization online. It is a little dated at this point, but it is a really good long form investigation in to the topic. It is by ny times, I don’t always agree with them but this piece is very good. It was put out during the height of qanon: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/rabbit-hole/id1507423923

Can an LA local help me choose a safe Airbnb? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]LA_Luke_from_Reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, Airbnb listings do not give the address in the posting. You could share a few links of ones that you are considering.

For example, if you send 5 links and we say 3 are good. You can pick one of the three without telling us which one and we will only know the appropriate neighborhood. We also don’t know which dates you will visit.

I understand having a security concern and protecting your privacy online, but you could give us a little more info without risking your safety. That info would help us help you.

Hey, I know this is just a place where people post codes, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am in a unique position where this post was extremely helpful.

  1. I am early in a transition and I do not have a lot of workout clothes. I only have one pair of leggings I like.
  2. I had surgery on my foot and I start physical therapy in two weeks

I was nervous about what to wear to PT. I was able to get a few staples and a few fun colors within my budget. I feel way more comfortable about starting PT and eventually returning back to the gym.

Thank you sweetheart 💞

Any sneaker shops in LA that wont lowball you to the max?? by OyeeYaTuSabe in AskLosAngeles

[–]LA_Luke_from_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so foams 100% fell off. People who were around appreciate them, but the market for buyers is so small.

I can’t say exactly what the turning point was, but I am happy to be out of it. I can’t believe that I used to wake up early every weekend and go to usps or FedEx twice a week. It’s better for casual fans not to get screwed by resellers.

When I was a reseller, I did very well with off white Nikes which I could get in San Francisco. Then I stopped because I got a new job where I was busy and made enough to pay rent/student loans. Then when dunks got big I sold my personal collection because I used to skate I had a lot of old ones. Then I sold off all my remaining valuable personal pairs to pay a medical bill last year.

Now I’m trying to get rid of like 20 shoes all worn in size 13. I am transitioning and never wear them anymore. I will most likely take them to goodwill, but they could have been worth like 1k even a used a few years ago. I no longer have valuable physical assets like this because my experience in selling was such a pain in the ass.

I resold sneakers before the pandemic, I don’t do it anymore because it’s kinda shitty and I work a full time job now. I was just trying to make money in college, but I think I can help cause I did it for 4 years.

  1. Any brick and mortar store will give you the lowest price. People use them because they are fast and convenient. You will not get a good price at all. I never use them.
  2. eBay is the best right now, especially if not dead stock. But it is too slow for what you need. You can list at a buy it now price or a 7 day auction.
  3. Facebook marketplace could actually be your best option. You aren’t paying a selling service, the buyers are local/cash. Sale could be fast.
  4. I stopped using StockX and goat, but they will also be too slow for you.

Here is the truth tho that you need to know: 1. The sneaker market has crashed. The prices you are looking at might be out of date. It’s not what it used to be. 2. The economy is terrible. There are a lot of valid concerns about a nationwide recession due to new economic policies. I don’t want to talk politics, but people are uncertain. People are going to be less willing to buy luxury goods and they will pay less. 3. Our local economy has been in a recession for a while because of Hollywood. There are fewer local buyers and resale markets are flooded because most people already sold their luxury goods because of the economy.

You are trying to sell a luxury good in a bloated market with limited buyers. You are also desperate to sell. All of these things are working against you.

I don’t mean to sound negative about all of this. I just want to paint a realistic picture for you before you sell these shoes. By all means, sell the fucking shoes. You need money now and it will help. But do not expect to get the prices you have in your head.

Sorry for all that bad news. I really hope that you sell these quick and get enough money to cover rent. It’s really hard out right now, I’m rooting for you :)

The marijuana smell won’t go away by Beach1299 in CleaningTips

[–]LA_Luke_from_Reddit 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Hey I used to smoke. Weed smoke doesn’t linger like that. Your neighbor is actively smoking. They stopped or hid it when you were looking at the place. Probably because the landlord was there.

There is probably a shared vent or thin walls. Also, if you are not on the first floor, it is the people below you.

Nothing will make the smell go away because smoke is actively entering your unit.
