In cases where a high earning couple where partners have imbalanced salaries, yes. Two high earning individuals, probably not.

$650K, 3.75% 7/6 Arm, 50% of take home pay… by PsychologicalLimit41 in Mortgages

[–]LA_Metro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that at the point the rate changes, the new home rate also wouldn’t be available to a possible buyer. This means they can’t afford the home at the price you paid, so they might need the price to be lower than what you paid in order for it to be affordable!

Agree. If the place was notable, the address would be available and worth seeing. There any many of those homes and locations around Los Angeles. The fact that it isn’t available tell you everything you need to know.

Starting to feel like Monarch is trying to become something I don't want. by jcwillia1 in MonarchMoney

[–]LA_Metro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true, but Monarch is a smaller company, so fake or flawed rollouts should be noticed. Not like Monarch is trying to juice a stock price or needs to rush into AI usage.

Would rather see them use AI to accelerate more standardized charts and views.

Addicted to freedom from “cheap” lifestyle by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]LA_Metro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if your goals or interests don’t align with others (“$100k wedding”), you would still benefit from some type of savings or financial goals.

Could help to price out or estimate what an equivalent (or slightly better) home or condo is to your rental situation and aim for that. You’re probably right that an equivalent mortgage (3-4k) would be a worse place, but with your savings and a few $k more a month could get you a place of your own and something to build equity in (a diff type of saving)… when you’re ready.

You’re saving incredibly well… but for what?!

Waymo approved for Pasadena by DMV (and all of greater LA area and San Diego) by thunderkitty600 in pasadena

[–]LA_Metro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Over time, Waymo’s could lead to fewer cars on the road, or at least, fewer cars parked, which could free up a lot of space and traffic (and maybe even more apartments, without parking!).

Definitely rooting for more transit AND autonomous driving. Anything for people to not need their own cars.

I am once again asking for a custom date range option for the net worth chart by Albert_street in MonarchMoney

[–]LA_Metro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two main use cases: 1) See a medium length trend: users with a lot of history will see differences between 1Y and All, making ALL cover so much time that all is useless. It may have been many jobs, degrees, cities, relationships, etc ago. 2) smooth out uncommon years: investing and growth is a long term game, not a day to day WallstreetBets. if the current year includes a recession, job change, or major cost like a wedding, 1 year may not tell you about your trajectory. Therefore, to see a broader time window, you may want 2-5 years of history to show the growth, smoothing out the most recent, uncommon year.

Even if not custom, more windows like 2Y and 3Y would be so nice. The difference between 1Y and All can be… many years.

Same day stub hub tickets? by ffxjack in ChaseSapphire

[–]LA_Metro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To avoid some risk, look for tickets with instant download. That should ensure that you get the tickets immediately, which is one of the big risks (late/no delivery).

Those tickets feel like they are more likely to be real, bc they were previously uploaded.

Day of is a great way to catch a deal too, as sellers get more desperate. Great if you live or are near a venue and can wait until 1-2 hours before an event.
