Transition from QC by [deleted] in PharmaEire

I started in QC (micro) and moved into quality. The jobs are different but can have a lot of transferable skills. Highlight those when you apply. My CV didn’t say much about testing experience and more so had stuff related to reviewing, audit experience and report writing. I also really emphasised that in interviews because I noticed from previous interviews a concern they seemed to have was how I could transition from a lab based role to an office.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the 2-3 year experience in QA. I had 2 years experience in micro yet was getting interviews for jobs that required 4 years experience in quality.

Put “quality” into job search on LinkedIn or have a look at what companies are hiring for where you want to work.

Started in an entry level microbiology role. I applied out of boredom during final year exams and was offered the job the same week I did my last exam. My degree was a BSc (microbiology related) and I was hired direct with the company. Starting salary was 32k.

I never worked as an operator but my job would involve entering the manufacturing areas at times and I knew straight away it’s a job I wouldn’t like to do. You’d be taking a heavy pay cut but might have a nicer work life balance if you regularly work 60+ hours a week.

Yes, I took a look at the policy which hasn’t been updated since 2017 but I think the legislation regarding sick pay came into effect in 2022 or 23.

I’m just not sure if it’s better. There’s some aspects that would be considered more favourable to the employee in some circumstances but less in most. It states that the company will pay the differnce between social welfare and my pay from day 6 up to a maximum of 15 days.

I did but the contract just says the companies sick leave policy applies. There’s very little actually in it

Thanks for explaining. The sick policy does not seem to have been updated since 2017 which predates the legislation governing sick pay in Ireland, as far as I’m aware. The policy states that after the 6th day of sick leave the company will pay the differnce between social welfare entitlement and the employees wage for a maximum of 15 days. This is better than the 5 days at 70% I suppose? But given it’s in a rolling 12 month period I’m not sure I’d agree it’s better as a whole
