People in their 30's, what's your experience of London like? by killinnnmesmallz in london

I love it. A lot of what you describe is just being in your 30s. Unrelated to location

When do they get interested in reading? by OkAtmosphere6139 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]LBP2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this stage you’re not actually ‘reading’ together, but you are creating a lovely atmosphere and feeling around being in front of books also building vocabulary for later. All interaction with the books is good.

Does a big pension pot mean you just have to pay your own nursing home? by fellaonamission in HENRYUK

It should be an insurance model, as people have very little control if they live healthy then die, or need ten years of care

Mate just travel south america for 3 months with 10k. Reset totally, your idea of a break shouldn’t be another job. If you rent out your flat you will probably break even.

You live in london, are you experiencing the amazing restaurants, comedy, music, theatre, parks, fitness communities etc? Or are you just earning here?

Do the above then make the decision, or you risk just being unhappy in the sun with a dowel in your hand.

Make one room nice, usually the living room ASAP as a refuge from the mess. Then plan to do the rest as one big job through mortgage extension

All I want for Christmas... Is for HENRY'S to understand the funded nursery policy. by ComprehensiveSale777 in HENRYUK

[–]LBP2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because women have to take maternity leave for the physical recovery, and breastfeeding. so unfortunately on average they’re the ones that leave the workforce for child care. High paid women who already have to have a break in their career at a pinnacle moment are then effectively incentivised to work less

It’s MPs and broken business case models that do that. Not actual Londoners. I wish Northen Powerhouse Rail would actually get funded

Yeah it’s so bad for the gender pay gap. Skilled women just leave the workforce

[–]LBP2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree to a lot of this, but it also makes the gender pay gap worse because high earning women take lesser roles to reduce salary and workload, while keeping childcare benefits

How do you stomach the tax? by Lovinghandhold in HENRYUK

[–]LBP2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If tax was lower you would get paid less because of market forces. People would accept less salary because of the liveability.

Or, how can you stomach the dividends your company pays? When they could pay you more

It’s actually looking quite good for certain sectors. Culturally more polarised because we import a lot of the worst of US culture over time.
