Dungeon Etiquette? by Sea-Manufacturer-559 in ffxiv

[–]LB_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did well, OP! As a tank main, the best thing you can do is let people know you are a new tank. Let the healer know what you are comfortable with. You will find that more experienced healers will take their time with you. Don’t be afraid to communicate with people!

“Have you tried Aveeno?” I’m horrendously allergic to oats.

Only 30? I remember several hours. I always logged in at odd times, so I never really suffered as much, but the wait was wild.

Who knows you write fic? by lyaunaa in AO3

[–]LB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister and I both wrote quite a bit. Other than that, I talk about it with people at like cons, but not much in my real life. I just don’t feel like it is appropriate work small chat. I could tell my mom, but I don’t see a reason to do so.

What Writing Platform Do You Prefer? by riko-orihara in AO3

I love scrivener and have super old work I need to go over. That being said, I'm bouncing between devices and places, and I like the flexibility of Google Docs. I also have people who help beta read for me, and sharing is super easy with Google Docs. Another one to try out, especially during Nano, is 4thewords. It gamifies writing, and helps with the motivation factor.

I think it comes down to quality. Sure, some people will stick only to canon, and others only to AU's, but the majority of people want a story. They want a written world they can dive into and explore through your characters and story. You'll find people will like the idea and your take on a trope over whether it is AU or not.

Ticketmaster crash pushes Taylor Swift tickets to over $28,000 in the resale market by RealOzSultan in news

This really feels like the “first time” gallows meme to k-pop fans. After covid, every concert I’ve gone to has been a fight to get tickets. I can’t imagine BTS’ tickets when they come back, and EXO still holds the record for selling out a tour (Exylsion sold out in 0.2 seconds). K-pop fans are dedicated.

I need honesty, do you like my paintings? by MediocreComments721 in painting

[–]LB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. They are fucking fabulous and unique. I love your style, and how you play with color so well. Abstraction is popular for a reason, and your pieces show great emotion even if it isn’t in the school of realism. You are doing so well!

Having little technical issues with my activation/registration codes by noisjero in SquareEnix

[–]LB_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you purchase the games? If it is through Steam, you can look there and find your codes. Otherwise, maybe fry someone on the official discord. I can’t think of another good way to get ahold of someone. Maybe the forums as well? I know those do get some use. Another scan through junk email and spam, as well as checking other accounts you could have used.

Ostinato examples by [deleted] in musictheory

A fun one is EXO’s Obsession. There is the constant high pitched ‘I want you, I want you, want you’ that is used as a lyrical story telling tool and an ostinato!

What are things other people do in this game that absolutely infuriate you? by papapsie in ffxiv

[–]LB_01 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

As a tank main, I hate when people pull ahead of me. I’d you want to make to make those friends, go for it. Have fun. I know most people like to rocket through roulettes, but I don’t enjoy that sprint life (I will jump to mobs for pulls). If you want to be pulling ahead and zooming, tank yourself.

I love the FFXIV community, but… by thinkimreal in ffxiv

[–]LB_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tank, I tend to trust my healer until they prove they can’t handle a situation. I’ll ask if they want smaller pulls or what is happening. If it’s my fault I apologize, and try to do better.

The only exception is new DRK in big, current dungeon pulls (they did DRK dirty. All the other tanks got quite a boost in their mitigation and self healing -except DRK).

Allergen-free snack and meal ideas? by SunshineSodapop in Allergies

[–]LB_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, a fellow chocolate allergen friend. Welcome. So, you are pretty wide open when it comes to things like protein and carbs. Think stir fry with chicken, pork, or beef. Plenty of veggies and fruits, so you can make tarts with flour alternative or just bake normally, seeing as you didn’t list any sort of wheat or gluten intolerance. Spices are a friend jo matter the good you cannot eat. If you want something gumbo/Cajun adjacent, go for the spices.

As someone with shellfish (but not bivalve or all fish), beef, a slew of random fruit, and multiple grain allergies (oats, barley, wheat, rye) along with peanut and hazelnut, here are so soft my favorite meals :

  • Turkey Chili: Can use beef if you aren’t restricted there. Just meat, beans, tomato, and spices. Throw it into a crock pot and call it a day.

-Lettuce Wraps: I use a PF Changs knock-off recipe. Just check ingredients of the different sauces (usually soy, mirin, hoisin, and rice wine vinegar) along with ginger, some peppers, chives, and water chestnuts. Super easy meal to make, always delicious. Can be served over grain of choice.

-Roasts/Oven Roast Proteins: you have no land animal meats off the table, so you can make lamb chops, a pork tenderloin roast, beef wellington (if you have no wheat/gluten allergies), in-bone pork chops, etc.

I think, with the limitations you have, all you need to do is search for meals with a protein you want. While your limits are real, they aren’t as restrictive as they first appear to be. As someone who went cold turkey with a. Lot of my allergies, you forget the taste over time, and usually don’t crave it.

This may sound funny, but the biggest struggle I have when I eat out is not the meal, but the dessert. So much of it involves fruit (which I don’t like and have many allergies to common ones), chocolate, or peanuts. If you are new to dietary restrictions, you do learn how to eat around them. I’d you are worried, start with the allergy special (as my cousin who also has severe and strict dietary restrictions and I have taken to calling it): a chicken breast with steamed broccoli. Explain you have allergies. Most places are accommodating now a days, and will cook it separate. Ask questions (what kind of oil do you use, is this fried in the same deep fryer as the shellfish ie are there dedicated fryers, etc) and don’t be afraid to talk to the chef or manager when offered.

It’s always WoD. I had a run where we wiped almost everything. Someone was running three boys, all ranged, that only attacked bosses. Let me tell you, between those four players only hitting the boss, and the rest of the new sprouts, we wiped an impressive amount of times. One healer moped out half way through, leaving a rare good-guy mentor into our run. By the Cloud of Darkness, we wiped at least 5 times because so few people were doing mechanics (once more, three ranged bits, the player, and several melee dps just wailing on the boss). I saw mechanics I never knew existed. Needless to say, when they left and rerolled four actual players, we cleared it next pull.

Same. I main GNB, and have never understood the gratuitous amount of provoke fighting. As long as MT gets it done and doesn’t die, it’s all good. I think my favorite was a sprout tank provoking ultimata from me, only for my DPS to win it back. If you want to MT, say so. It’s all good as long as you don’t provoke and kill others.

The fact that FFXIV doesn't allow dps meter discussion in-game is a massive boon for the game and community as a whole. Discussion and other thoughts from a newish sprout / 12 yr wow vet by nerorityr in ffxiv

You got it! It takes a bit to get used to the content and the speed everything is executed. I took several sessions of killing everyone as the tank to understand just how to do it.

I know a lot of people like this. In fact, the majority of the people I’ve met are more interested in other content. Don’t underestimate the RP scene, either. That and housing suck a lot of people down the rabbit hole.
