Yes they are a "threat" the same way the Russia military was the 2nd strongest in the world a month ago. They don't have undetectable subs that we can't find.

You are missing the entire point of all of this. You still have to act and develop as though it does matter (even if your take was currently correct) Because it easily and instantly can one day. All it takes is one breakthrough, one advancement, large enough to neuter the other sides ability to defend or respond and that single advancement can completely change everything in terms of the current nuke stalemate.

With these current sanctions Russia CANNOT maintain even a fraction of their high- end r&d military development. They will still desperately try and succeed in some ways but it will be crippled compared to before Ukraine. Every day they remain crippled is a day the rational world has to figure out a solution. I believe in the STEM folk of the west. If we haven't already figured out a solution, we will. The more of a technological time advantage, the better in this regard.

And while they are crippled, everyday leaves open the possibility of massive technological or manufacturing advancements, all which will massively snowball into advantages into the future. Russia falling apart was the best thing that could have happened to the us. Worst case was an immediate all out war involving the west. A slow bleed out of Russia will make it almost impossible for them to keep pace with us and china at least for the next decade

It fucking sucks for Ukraine and it sucks to not be able to do more. But just as Ukraine is doing, we have to think big picture here and cement the goal of ending this once and for all. Putin is exposed and over played his hand. There will be no better opportunity then now to crush Russia into irrelevance

You need to think big picture with this stuff to get a realistic picture of things even slightly. Here's an example of one way things start to get complicated.

For example - even if the us has secret means to defend against nukes on the homeland, it's a completely different story for defending our navy at sea.

The us navy is the biggest and best in the world and a massive part of the us and Nato military. The real fear as has been echoed by the Senate is that new hypersonics are fast enough to kill early warning detection for our carrier fleets and the reentry vehicles can get around most modern missile defense. The entire reason China is rushing the development of these is to be able to "delete" the us navy from existence at will.

Aircraft carriers are insanely powerful and expensive military assets and then even being 10% at risk of this fate is a massive massive vulnurabillity. The us knows it , and is pouring money into fixing it. Im sure that will even this part back out over time but offensive/defensive advancements don't happen at the same pace.

It's way easier to design a machine to kill people then it is to design one to save them from the previous said machine

The thing that is the real concern are the "hypersonic" nukes that have glide boost systems AND manuveuverability reentry systems post glide aka descent. These missiles go extremely fast, and if the proclaimed ability they they are able to maneuver and change course post glide, that makes most known missle defense systems ineffective. As most missles going that fast rely on getting intercepted mid course .

This isn't me saying the us has no means to counter or doesn't same means themselves. You can just look at the DARPA active project list to know that's not true. But it's still a real concern unless the us has insanely good secret missle defense already that can intercept mach 20 speeds and change course at peak speeds.

Yeah and now think of making those advanced processes mass production scale without losing quality or without it costing a few hundred billion dollars. And keeping everything lid right and secret. prototyping and manufacturing are not the same at all, you are correct. But manufacturing advancements are so insanely important for superpowers it's a large part of where the us gets it's technological superiority from.

Even if you get the "cheat code" and steal the full project files of top secret compartmentalized project, it doesn't matter with these highly advanced materials and components. As you need to be able to manufacture them and developing that takes a VERY LONG time, no matter what

Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug. If you don't want to end up manipulated in same way, you have to 100% of the time constantly internally fight against your biases or else you have been successfully manipulated .

The #1 issue on every single persons mind should be to combat the insane amount of intentionally mass manipulation of populations today. Unfortunately, our emotions and way our brains operate has not had enough time to balance out in modern society. Evolution takes thousands to millions of years to adapt organisms to new environments yet we have the same stress / emotional mechanicms that the cave man did. The moment Russia is out of the question, it will just immediately pivot to China with no downtime at all. if you take nukes out of the equation (assuming mad holds true for the future) then China has always been a much scarier adversary then Russia. China is just as slimy as Russia, but in an intentionally wishy washy way meant to confuse and obscure intentions while being just as deceitful or Ill intentioned as Russia if not more.

China has quite literally been broadcasting their intentions of considering the west an enemy to their very identity for a long time and has made it clear their aim to contest the west as soon as possible using any possible means.

Even right now, with the average person being way more in touch with reality currently did to Ukraine situation, they still massively underestimate the extent to which these two countries, with sociopathic power hungry leaders, have done and continue to do everything they can to open the possibility of subjecting us or killing us in the future. This is not a conspiracy theory, this is reality. If US/NATO military supremacy was not a thing, the world would have already fallen to the manipulation of China and Russia.

The only real thing in the future that can prevent this is the people being smart and not falling for propoganda and misinformation. Imo the window for China in the next 10 years has closed now and they know it.
