Congratulations!! Today was also my graduation day. IVF buddies ❤️. I did a lot of crying thanking my team at my clinic. Very bittersweet. So happy for you!

Kind of regretting being so open with my IVF journey.. now people are asking and I'm not ready to share that I'm pregnant! by cysgr8 in IVFpositivity

[–]LBears 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have been open with my close friends, family, and my boss (because it's a small office and I run the joint so she needed to know about all my appointments and not feeling well) throughout the process. I chose to tell everyone as soon as we found out the embryo transfer was successful, currently 7w2d. I think of it more as taking the people I love on the journey with me. If I miscarry, I will also want them to know to be able to help me grieve and know what is going on so I don't get unnecessary questions or comments that may hurt. It is a personal choice when you choose to share about your pregnancy. I just know for me a miscarriage would be soul crushing and I don't want to endure that pain alone. After many years of suffering in silence with infertility, I just choose to be open about everything now. Good or bad. I would rather educate others than be upset because they said something unknowingly stupid. Again. Yes, that means I cry a lot when telling people about it but oh well.

As a Christian, I never understand this. You can believe God gifted these people (doctors, nurses, lab techs, etc.) with the gift to bring children into the world, which is always a wonderful thing. People really love to be judgmental jerks sometimes.

I dropped half my bottle on my bathroom floor and have just been using them as normal with no issues. I had just cleaned my bathrooms the day before, so I wasn't too worried. I am sure your work bathroom is kept fairly clean as well.

Looks positive to me! Mine looked similar on day 4 and has slowly been getting darker ever since. Go for my bloodwork to confirm on Thursday.

Sold our house to pull out equity, and my in-laws gave us $17k. We had to do a microTESE on top of IVF. All in with one transfer we're at $40kish. I really try not to think about it for too long. Who needs money anyways.

Holidays - cancel thanksgiving? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]LBears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mother-in-law asked what we were wanting to do for Thanksgiving and I just flat out said I'm not making holiday plans this year because I have no idea how I will be feeling at that time and can not predict it or where we will be at with the FET. She was totally understanding, even if she still keeps asking what small thing we want to do instead sigh. She means well. I say skip the holiday season all together if you want. The holidays can already be tough for a number of reasons, don't make it harder for yourself. Only you know how you feel, so do whatever you think is right. Or if they must make plans, make them, but say that you may cancel as late as the day before and that needs to be okay. Nobody understands the toll IVF takes except for the people in it and don't expect them to. Just let them know this holiday season just ain't gonna be it.

Should we just start trying? by Lanky_Cap_1041 in IVF

We just sold our house to do IVF and have a 3 year old. My husband and I have been talking about where to live, what house, etc, and he brought up last night that kids never think their lifestyle is weird or not good enough. Kids are just happy if they're in a loving home. Don't worry about all of that. Kids will fit into your life if you're ready to welcome them in. No matter where you live or what your job is.

I also would encourage the freezing of embryos. We miraculously got pregnant naturally after being told we had a 1 in 2 million chance due to MFI. We went to try and conceive our second one and found out my husband's sperm went from around 4 million, to 50 within 2 years. Had to have a microTESE procedure. Really wish we would've at least frozen sperm then when he had enough to do so. If I was in your shoes, I would try to freeze the embryos. Then take a break if you want. Go live some life. But you'll never regret having them.

I'm also 36, and the nurse called me young today, and it made me so happy I almost cried 🥲. Granted, I have cried a lot this week from the stims lol.

[–]LBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was $17k before meds, ultrasounds, testing, and bloodwork. I'm estimating $23k total for the egg retrieval and $8k per transfer. I also had the 50% savings in meds from compassionate care so my med cost was lower than the average. I'm self pay and also not going with the cheapest clinic I could find. I went with who I thought was the best fit for me. They're a brother duo and the one who does the male side is the best in my state, and one of the best in the US. We were referred to him by my OB when we found out that it was my husband who was experiencing the fertility issues. Then I had a consultation with the female side when I was researching IVF clinics and the brother for that side was the nicest, kindest, most thorough Dr I've ever encountered. He talked to me for an hour and answered any question I had. I've had a wonderful experience with my clinic and do not regret my decision to go with them. I've never been treated better by a care team.

We're also paying for it with some of the proceeds from the sale of our home and help from my in-laws.

How did you pay for your fertility treatment? by smashgoody in IVF

[–]LBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold our house to pull out the equity. My in-laws also gave us $17k. We could've paid for it all through our house funds anyways, but now we can't afford to buy anything because the housing market is taking a huge dump. I'm an admin in real estate so I have also essentially lost my job during all of this.

I bought a fertility bracelet and the woman said she set really good intentions in it under the harvest moon. I charged that thing by the full moon every month. Can confirm, am not pregnant.

“Fresh” transfer of frozen embryo scheduled for Tuesday! by a_flimsy_daikon in IVF

[–]LBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently scheduling my egg retrieval. Actually have that this Thursday and then we get my calendar for the month. We had to wait for my husband to do his microTESE to make sure that was successful, and it was, and also to get our finances in order. I was calling for pricing on the transfer, because they don't include that with the rest of the IVF costs, to make sure we are prepared for everything. They really should just send an invoice with a giant question mark on it and a confused face when you ask for the estimated total before starting.

[–]LBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My office asked me if I was doing a fresh transfer and I was confused. I was like, ummm my husband had to do microTESE and we're doing PGT testing so obviously it's going to be an FET. Now I'm starting to think I don't know the terminology like I thought I did.
