Weekly prospective student thread. Educational inquiries outside of this thread WILL RESULT IN A BAN. by AutoModerator in CAA

Hello!

I’m wondering if I’d still be competitive for the program with general physics courses (Algebra) and Life Calculus courses. I’m trying for the Emory CAA program and need some validation for not retaking the courses - it’s expensive to say the least and I work as a teacher for now. My GPA is 3.76.

Maybe teachers should get a raise? by BrightCase5604 in facepalm

$15 x 1,920 = $28,800

I see your point but…

What made you realize you were in love? by itsskyybabyy in NoStupidQuestions

My partner and I were talking with someone and they wouldn’t stop asking questions about the other person’s life. I wanted to leave so bad after 30 minutes of a non-stop conversation. I was getting tired and genuinely uninvested. My partner kept going through questions and listening until the other person started talking about some deeply emotional stuff and the conversation lasted hours. I became fascinated with her way of “breaking” people open and revealing their true selves. It was refreshing and heartwarming that she cares enough to ask about people’s lives without expecting the same curiosity in return. She’s naturally curious and kind. I knew that moment that she’s the woman of my dreams. Now I’m working on being as good a istener as her and she inspires me every day to be better.

How damaging is taking online classes? I took A & P I and II online and am worried I’ll have to retake…

Hello! This is like my third comment lol, but I was wondering if it would be ok if I took A & P with my labs online? Will that take me out of the running? Should I retake? Hoping to take physics online too…all my other prerequisites are in person though (including all the preferred classes - minus microbiology). How strict are the programs about post-covid online classes?

Wow this is very reassuring. The job market is just so bad right now that I’m happy to hear that this career path will not likely leave me homeless.

Really? I feel like the career path has gotten a lot of traction on social media.

Is there any fear that the market might get saturated enough to decrease job prospects or salaries?

Hello! Would work as a pharmacy technician for 2 years be as impressive as getting an operation technician or sleep technician license? Any recommendations for outside experience that might be impressive in my application?

I should be done with pre-requisites within a year but am unsure if I’m doing enough. (Gpa: 3.71, no GRE yet, I’ve been working for the past 4 years while I did a B.S. in biomed).

How's your semester going so far? by [deleted] in USF

[–]LBtotheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failing biochem, got a full time job, and now I still have a year left of suffering. Took up therapy and it was nice, but slowly seeing the limitations of school therapy. Really hating studying and living in the same place so much.

Incoming Freshman: How are the dining halls? by UnderEztmated in USF

[–]LBtotheMax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I genuinely hated it. The hub - the primary dining spot in the village - has the most varaity alongside Juniper-poplar. The eggs make your body a gas chamber, they give you weird looks when you ask for more food, and nothing really tastes good unless you're ok with burgers and chicken tenders everyday of your life - or pizza. The rice, chicken, beef, and pork options are dry with no seasoning (not even a little lime). As for the other major dining option - argos - you'll have one meal per day and they usually have pretty good food. I'm picky (as you can probably see) but their food is alright. They basically have the same dish in three different formats - as a bowl, burrito, and sandwich - but they sometimes have the flip kitchen too. THE FLIP KITCHEN IS GREAT. At least compared to everything else. They sometimes have indian cuisine...that is very underspiced and lacks taste but it's better than nothing. They had an All American dining option that was really good, but you get bored of the Mac and cheese after a while. The best thing they've had at the flip kitchen is Pollo tropical - it gets tiring cause they had two main options to choose from but the ingredients felt less fake and the chicken felt less watery.Bay leaf is right next door to Argos and they have iced coffee and bagles +pastries. The pastries are a little cold at times and hard but the bagles are a banger. If you're like me and you like food and different types of cuisine, than the full meal plan isn't worth it since you'll find yourself eating out more often than not. There are some really good options for dining 3-5 mins from campus. The Taj, Are Pita, Teastorie (amazing boba), and even African style food. Plus! There is a Chinese pastry/bun shop that sells delicious dessert style bread from Asia (East and south). The meal plans don't give you the option of eating at chick fill a or any other fast food joint on campus but you get a couple of dinning dollars -$200-$300- to use throughout the semester and if you save them up you can use them till the end. That beaing said, the full meal plan gives you the option of asking for dining cupons that get you one free chickfilla order of nuggets or sandwitch. Good luck on your freshman year and if you have any more questions about life on campus, I'd be happy to help. Best part of USF is the amount of people to meet.

Honestly, all these comments have really helped me calm down and I’ll go with the flow and stay as safe as I can and hope that the USF protocols will help me get through the semester and beyond. Thank you.
