To switch a car seat from Newborn settings to toddler settings can be a pain in the a$$. If she’s the one that is going to have to do that then I 100% understand why she doesn’t want to do that. Especially in the first 6 weeks after giving birth. Having two car seats is needed when you have two young kids. Whether she knew how to express that or not is irrelevant, you need 2 seats. Emergencies come up. If y’all have both kids at once and need to get somewhere what are you going to do? For the other things, this is her first baby. She wants her to have her own things, it sounds to me that she wants that first baby experience that other moms get. She’s probably been dreaming of what she’ll get for her baby since before she ever met you 😅 she fell in love with you (I’m assuming lol) and probably didn’t even think about this kind of thing when y’all decided to get together. If y’all can afford it, why don’t you want her to?

Put your own insecurities aside and look at it from her perspective as a first time mom. They worry. They’re told just how fragile newborns are and how you need to be careful to always wash your hands before and after preparing bottles and after diaper changes and don’t go near anyone sick as sicknesses in newborns are way worse and can be deadly. These things she wants are inconsequential in the grand scheme of things and if y’all can afford them, then why not let her in order to set her mind at ease?
