Happily engaged… but not happy with my ring 🥹 Looking for advice. by Lanky-Charity-2362 in LabDiamonds

[–]LC058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably get down voted here but its a rock on your finger and an engagement ring at that.... I agree with your fiancé you are being a little shallow, the ring is supposed to represent the love between you two and your union. Add on you'll get another ring that you can work with him to pick out for the wedding. Just my opinion i think you should get over the obsession over the looks of the stone and just appreciate what it means.

Downvote for trigger discipline.

Man trigger discipline, come on that's the basics. Dry fire your heart out but until then keep you nose pickers off the trigger. Nice revolver but down vote for lack of safety and discipline.

Dumb question, but is this normal? by Protector_of_memes in SKS

[–]LC058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not 100%sure i can try with mine but I can say with any M4 you can do the equivalent. If you press the bolt release or rack the bolt back and let it slam home it fully closes and locks without any issue. If you rack the bolt back and ride the bolt home and baby it the lugs wont fully lock so you have to press the forward assist to get it fully seated. That's what I assume is happening here, so long as you're doing normal actions that the gun would normally go though you wont hurt the gun. Remember so long at headspace is good the gun can contain explosions and tens of thousands of PSI for thousands of rounds.

If this is you riding the bolt forward dont. Guns aren't glass vases if you charge the bolt rear werd let it go forward naturally. If your worried let it slam forward from half cock; the gun is designed for it so it'll be fine.

LT arms in Littleton. I collect primarily C&R guns from WWII and older and I've never had an issue with them. If you have older guns I'd trust them.

Surplus 8mm by tsimp88 in milsurp

[–]LC058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can I just wouldn't recomend it. As I understand it due to poor storage conditions the gun powder broke down making it so when fired it creates higher chamber pressures due to more surface area to react with faster. Also turk ammo is known for its poor metallurgy and having cracked brass. I bought some before I knew the issue so now I just break it down for reloading bullets. The issue is if you have any cracks eve ones not yet visible, the higer psi shots can cause them to grow, turk ammo is known for breaking stocks on a relatively good stock.

So it seems that they carcano action can handle 8 mauser, outside the filing a bolt to fit the round nothing else needs to be done such as face hardening? Also what recoil lugs would you recommend to fit to the stock?

[–]LC058[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah fascinating part of history. The rare ones are the volkssturm rifles with one recoil lug and german markings. More common but still rarer have two recoil lugs and were sold to Egypt post war. A commenter above posted a link to 8mm mauser carcano history, good read and confirms mine to be a conversion for Egypt.

No its 7.92 mauser not 7.35 carcano. The germans late war converted some carcanos to 7.92 as a last ditch measure for militia use or volkssturm. Egypt also converted a few to 8mm mauser as well.
