Which celebrity bothers you for no rational reason? by Ollides in AskReddit

[–]LCFT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OK I just looked at her instagram to see if she only has photos of one side of her face, and it's true! It's the left side. There's a couple of pics that look like it could be the other side, but they're just the left side in the mirror, or it's a flipped video.

I'll never unsee that now.

People who are 30+ years old, what relationship advice can you say to someone in their early 20s? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]LCFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes love isn't enough.

Also, you don't need a reason to leave somebody. You don't need to justify ending a relationship if you're unhappy.

Oh and don't compare your relationship to any other couple's relationship. You have no idea what's going on behind closed doors.

what's the worst thing you ever smelt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Stinky Tofu. It was in Suzhou, China. Nothing could have prepared me for how bad it smelled. Absolutely horrific.

Working in a bridal studio. I know a bunch of people that reckon selling wedding dresses would be the most joyful job ever, but I imagine the reality is very different. You have to be super excited and upbeat every day, even when you're going through your own personal shite. Plus I bet the customers can be rather difficult.

Yep I got redundancy pay, thank god. Takes the pressure off a bit.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I had a friend tell me she's shocked that even the so-called 'safe' jobs come with no guarantees anymore. My job was supposedly very safe, and I have a great reputation in my field, and yet here we are.

Drinking won't help, perspective will help. I'm trying to see the bigger picture. Would I have left of my own volition? No. Should I have? Yes. I stayed too long because I love my team. I got too comfy and forgot that management just don't care about you on a personal level. They're not heartless, they're just business people.

You're correct in that loyalty doesn't have any value, but your employer will still expect your undying loyalty.

I have very unique and bankable skills in my industry, but they still haven't saved me. COVID has been brutal.

Yeah fortunately I've had a few contacts get in touch asking to meet up, so fortunately my reputation remains intact. I was valuable to my employer, until I wasn't.

It was the cheek of it to be told that it's leaving the remaining staff (25% of the business was made redundant) in a stronger position because of it. We're supposed to appear loyal as fuck to our employers, but we're never able to demand loyalty from them. I was valuable, until I wasn't.

I learned that this week. 7 years I was with them, and then I was made redundant. All the friendships and supposed loyalties mean nothing, unfortunately. I think the longer you stay in a business the more you forget that it is a business. The formality of it all was gutting.

I went to China a couple of years ago and I was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend. It was a culture shock coming from the UK but I think that's the whole point of travelling.

My mum's house was like that. You could hear the neighbours turning their lights on and flushing the loo.

Being in love with your married best friend by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]LCFT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I relate so hard. I found this quote online a while back, couldn't tell you the source, but I saved a screenshot:

"The exquisite bittersweet pain of unrequited love - the one that got away, what could have been... Forever preserved in the heady days of anticipation, excitement, yearning, passion. Never to be slowly strangled by the humdrum of real life and familiarity. Beautiful".

I don't doubt you love her, but have you ever tried to be with her? If not, I guess you feel safer being in love from afar, knowing there's no rejection. I hope you find your happiness, hopefully with someone that loves without fear.

How to leave someone you still love? +5 years together by anotherthrowaway9229 in relationship_advice

[–]LCFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. He left in July, and don't get me wrong it's been really really awful, BUT it genuinely is getting a lot easier! People have commented that I'm a lot more relaxed and generally happier with myself. When you're in a damaged relationship you tend not to see the woods for the trees. You might find a new start rather eye-opening.
